Etsy Faves

If I had millions of dollars, I'm sure I could buy all that I could ever want only from Etsy and be perfectly happy. Seriously, there's so many amazing items on this site right now. For summer, I'm loving sparkly things, hints of pink, and cool sunglasses.
So sparkly!

Perfectly pretty for a music festival

Who doesn't love a little bit of neon?

So cute!

This is perfect for showing off your favorite dress

Yep, you would look too cool for school in these!

Which is your fave?

Outfit: Blue Overload

I've worn this outfit three times this week with various shoes (wedges for a little height, sandals when it was hot, and flats when it was cloudy). When it's too hot to think, a paper-thin t-shirt and flowy floral skirt are a life-saver. It looks like I put some thought into my outfit but didn't.

I'm usually not so matchy-matchy (honestly, most of the time I could care less if my shoes match), but I liked the blue overload this time. I love how blue can be worn year round, and I find myself drawn to it every summer {like this outfit}.

It might be hot outside, but it's never too early to think about the next season, so if you're looking for winter jackets for men and women's jackets, then you should check out the selection at eFoxCity. They have great fashionable choices right now. If you're still in summer mode, look no further than their fashion dresses

Looks I Love {Summer Lovin'}

I just realized it's about a month and a half until my last semester at grad school starts, and it's causing me to panic a little. I've been working on later chapters of my novel, but haven't edited the first 100 pages, which I really need to do. I think this stress is getting under my skin, even though I keep telling myself I have time, because my left eye has developed a twitch. I'm really not one to over-stress, but I guess I'm just worried.

Let's switch over to good news: In September, I'm going to Slice Magazine's Literary Writer's' Conference! I went my very first semester of grad school and now I'm going before my last semester. Oh, symmetry! Luckily, I get to go for free since students in MFA programs can apply for a scholarship.

My Friend is a Published Author!

My friend Lauren Peterson published her first novel called Iridium

If you like fantasy, murder mystery, and dragons, then you'll love this! I read several chapters in our college workshops and she writes wonderfully; her characters are fully fleshed out, the imagery is so vivid that it feels like you're actually in the story, and the story is intense and takes you on a fun ride. She's going to be the next Neil Gaiman or George R.R. Martin.

Here's the synopsis:
Kellermark: A seven-tiered city that towers two miles into the sky. It is home to two distinct, segregated races, commonly called the ‘whites’ and the ‘hueds,’ who have viewed each other with hatred and distrust for three hundred years. When hued Lieutenant Elwen Southeridge discovers a massive egg shell alongside bizarre white antiques at the scene of a crime, it is the beginning of a case that will lead him into levels of Kellermark no hued person has entered in centuries. The white levels comprise a technologically advanced world where the streets are policed from the sky by riders mounted on dragon-like creatures, and the residents themselves have been genetically altered in an effort to create a ‘superior’ albino race. With the reluctant aid of a prickly white archaeology professor, Elwen finds himself involved in a case that has far greater ramifications than delving into an illegal antiquities market and solving a murder, but will challenge the societal structure of Kellermark itself.

Lauren even drew the cover herself! I already bought the e-book and I can't wait to read it!

Inspired By: Moonrise Kingdom

Directed by Wes Anderson, this quirky comedy-drama follows twelve-year-old orphan Sam Shakusky in 1965 on the New England island of New Penzance. While attending a Khaki Scout Camp called Camp Ivanhoe, Sam meets Suzy Bishop, who lives on the island with her parents and younger brothers. Both introverted and intelligent, Sam and Suzy have been pen pals since last year; they have fallen in love and have decided to run away together. This film is silly, cute, and very funny.

Sam Shakusky
Inspired By: Moonrise Kingdom -- Sam
Sam (Jared Gilman), the soft-spoken Khaki Scout camper, brings camping equipment when he and Suzy decide to run away. They hike, camp, and fish together in the wilderness since he knows what to do. To dress like Sam wear an olive romper, patches, bright yellow scarf, yellow belt, white lace backpack, and brown oxfords. Or for a more modern interpretation, go with an army jacket, olive button up, jean shorts, brown flats, and a yellow purse.

Suzy Bishop
Inspired By: Moonrise Kingdom -- Suzy
Suzy (Kara Hayward) was performing in a play when she and Sam first met. When they run away, Suzy brings with her binoculars, six books, her cat, and her brother's battery-powered record player. For a colder climate, wear a pink jacket, yellow dress, a burgandy beret, floral socks, and saddle shoes. Or if you're going out, try a pink dress, green earrings for the beetle ones that Sam makes for Suzy, nude heels, and a yellow bag.

Captain Duffy Sharp
Inspired By: Moonrise Kingdom -- Captain Sharp
Captain Duffy Sharp (Bruce Willis) is an Island Police officer and has been having an affair with Suzy's mother, Laura, but is a kind-hearted man. Since the officer dresses in black and white, try donning a color-blocked shirt, black jeans, a black and gold watch, and black booties. Or for a summer look, wear a white shirt, distressed black shorts, metallic belt, gun earrings, and studded sandals.
