I keep seeing metallic belts all over Pinterest and they seem perfectly sexy for summer. To me, spring and summer is all about unfussiness, and yet a metallic belt is more pulled together and sophisticated. A lot of the outfits below are flowy and bohemian, but the addition of a metallic belt looks wonderful.

A Blogger Book Swap: Literary Crushes
Today, I'm linking up with Kimberly of The Simplicity to talk about my literary crushes!
ONE | Harry Potter
You know I have to start with the stubborn, loyal and at times moody young wizard, who I had a literary crush on all through my teenage years. What's not to love about the fact that he will stop at nothing to protect those he cares about? It doesn't hurt that he also has dark, messy hair and wears glasses.
TWO | Fitzwilliam Darcy
Tall, dark, handsome, and ever brooding, Mr. Darcy is the man that woman have been swooning over for two centuries, and rightly so. He loves Elizabeth right from the start, but quietly loves her. When she tells him off and rejects his proposal of marriage, he realizes he's been arrogant and pretentious, and changes his outlook to become a better man. *swoon*
THREE | Tobias Eaten AKA Four
The handsome, young Dauntless initiation instructor nicknamed Four is protective but not overly so, stern, gentle, and trustworthy. He believes in the Dauntless faction and it's idea that ordinary acts of bravery help people stand up for each other. He also believes in Beatrice and her ability to overcome her fears. He and Beatrice have a trusting and intense relationship that for a YA novel is believable and doesn't feel too juvenile.

May Wishlist
I'm so glad it's been warm in New York lately. Now that the semester is over (It finished yesterday! Only one more semester to go!), I feel like taking trips into the city to explore, sip an iced aroma (so delicious!), visit the Met, and relax in Central Park. How funny would it be to wear that New York Fucking City t-shirt while in the city?
I would also love to be wearing that two-toned skirt, a new pair of sunnies, and that amazing ampersand ring! Also, I really need a new mouse pad; my Starry Night one is showing serious wear.

Inspired By: Star Trek Into Darkness
Guys, I'm so excited about J.J. Abrams' Star Trek Into Darkness! My dad's been a huge fan of the original show since he was a teenager; he and his friends used to pretend to be the characters (ie. they LARPed before it was cool haha) and my dad was always Kirk. Although I didn't grow up watching the show and don't know much about the Trek universe, Star Trek reminds me of my dad, so I'll definitely be seeing it with him this weekend!
In this sequel, the crew of the Enterprise is called back home to Earth to find an a man who has sparked terror within the organization and has left the world in a state of crisis. With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk sets out to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction.
Captain James Kirk
James T. Kirk (Chris Pine) is the arrogant but moral and loyal captain of the Enterprise. He never leaves a friend behind and won't stop until the bad guy is captured or dead. As the highest in command, he wears a yellow shirt on board his spaceship. So to dress like Kirk, wear a high-low yellow top, black jeans, black flats, and a black and gold necklace. If you're on Earth or on another planet, try a black jacket, dark gray tee, gray jeans, and short studded boots.
Commander Spock
Spock (Zachary Quinto) is the logically-minded half-human, half-Vulcan and Kirk's second-in-command. Though he's also in charge, Spock wears blue, which is worn by the science and medical personnel on board. Wear a denim blazer, blue button up, dark wash jeans, scalloped flats, and a star ear cuff for Spock's pointy ears. Or be a little less practical and go for a bronze metallic dress, black cut-out heels, gold ear cuff, and blue-tinted sunglasses.
Nyota Uhura
Nyota Uhura (Zoe Saldana) is a smart, strong-willed communications officer. She and Spock are together in this alternative timeline. Uhura wears red, which is worn by the operations, engineering, and security officers. Dress like Uhura by wearing a red jacket, gray striped dress, and fun black wedges. Or if you're off fighting bad guys go for a black moto jacket, leather-sleep t-shirt, black jeans, short boots, and a floral scarf.
Khan Singh
Khan Singh (Benedict Cumberbatch) is a genetically-engineered superhuman who, while out for revenge, has brought destruction to Earth. As the big bad of the movie, Khan wears all black. For a relaxed look, put on a sweater jacket, embroidered tunic, leggings, and burgundy Toms for a little color. Since Khan isn't playing by the rules, why should you? So why not pair a sophisticated sheer top with ripped jeans, bow heels, and green earrings.

What Kind of Energy Do You Bring to a Room?
I had an interesting conversation with my friend Brittany a really long time ago (January, I think), but it's been stuck in my head ever since. She told me about an article she read where the person talked about the energy you bring into a space. When I was searching online, I found this blog post; apparently the concept was mentioned on Oprah but originates from Jill Nolte Taylor's book My Stroke of Insight.
Anyway, it's an interesting concept to think about: If there were a group of people in a room and you walked in what sort of energy would you bring to the room? In essence, how do you make others feel?
It's a great question to ask yourself and then an honest friend. What kind of energy do you think you bring to a room? What kind do you want to bring to a room? And then what of energy do you actually bring?
In the back of my mind, while Brittany and I were talking, I was hoping she would say that my energy is friendly and warm, and that I make her feel accepted. Luckily, she said exactly what I hoped she would!
