Now that spring is finally here that means I obviously want to go shopping for new warm-weather goodies! I've been dying to get a floral silky bomber jacket for a full year now and finally found a cute one for $25 at Kohls. YASSSSSS!
I also need a new pair of sandals, preferably a cool lace-up pair like the one shown, because my favorite ones are falling apart after wearing them for three years. Definitely time to say goodbye to those and hello to new ones.

Every year I do a comprehensive Fall TV Guide because that's when most new shows begin, but that's becoming less and less true as shows premiere year round on places like Netflix, Hulu, and subscription-based channels, like HBO. So I thought it would be fun to showcase some new shows coming in the spring and summer months.
I'm particularly looking forward to Bill Nye Saves The World, American Gods, Dark Angel, and The Defenders. What about you?
APRIL
Bill Nye Saves The World (April 21 on Netflix)
Bill Nye hosts a talk show exploring scientific issues, such as space exploration, vaccinations, genetically modified foods, and climate
change. The series will work to debunk myths and refute anti-scientific
claims that may be spread by politicians, religious leaders, or titans
of industry. Guest appearances will feature Karlie Kloss, Zach Braff, Joel McHale, Tim Gunn, and more.
Girlboss (April 23 on Netflix)
Girlboss is inspired by the book #Girlboss by Sophia Amoruso, founder of the fashion brand Nasty Gal. The series
centers on Amoruso (Britt Robertson), who began selling vintage clothes
on eBay and, by the age of 28, had built the multi-million dollar
fashion empire, Nasty Gal.
Mary Kills People (April 23 on Lifetime)
Set in the morally grey world of assisted suicide, the series
follows Dr. Mary Harris (Caroline Dhavernas), a single mother and emergency doctor by day,
who also moonlights as an underground angel of death — helping
terminally ill patients who want to die and slip away on their own
terms. So far Mary has managed to stay under the radar; but business is
booming, and her double life is getting complicated. When her world
starts to unravel, Mary realizes she's going to have to fight dirty if
she's going to stay in the killing game.
The Handmaid's Tale (April 26 on Hulu)
Based on the novel by Margaret Atwood; In a dystopian near-future, the totalitarian
and Christian-fundamentalist government of Gilead rules the former
United States amidst an ongoing civil war and subjugates women. Widespread infertility
due to environmental contamination has resulted in the forced
conscription of young fertile women—called Handmaids—who are assigned to the homes of the elite, where
they are expected to have ritualized sex with the men in order to bear children. Offred (Elisabeth Moss) has been posted to the home of an elite
Commander (Joseph Fiennes) and his wife (Yvonne Strahovski) and must follow the rules of
Gilead in hope that she can someday live freely.
Dear White People (April 28 on Netflix)
Set against the backdrop of a predominantly white Ivy League university where racial tensions bubble just below the surface, it's a hilarious send-up of "post-racial" America that weaves together
the universal story of finding one’s own identity and forging a wholly
unique path. Starring Logan Browning, Brandon P. Bell, Antoinette Robertson, and Giancarlo Esposito.
American Gods (April 30 on Starz)
Based on the novel by Neil Gaiman; A war brewing between old and new gods: the traditional gods of biblical
and mythological roots are steadily losing believers
to an upstart pantheon of gods reflecting society’s modern love of
money, technology, media, celebrity, and drugs. Its protagonist, Shadow
Moon (Ricky Whittle), is an ex-con who becomes bodyguard and traveling partner to Mr.
Wednesday (Ian McShane), a conman but in reality one of the older gods, on a
cross-country mission to gather his forces in preparation to battle the
new deities. Also starring Emily Browning, Crispin Glover, Pablo Schreiber, and Orlando Jones.

Anne (May 2 on Netflix)
Based on the novel by L.M. Montgomery; A coming-of-age story about an outsider who, against all
odds and many challenges, fights for love and acceptance and her place
in the world. Set in Prince Edward Island in the late 1890s, the series
centers on Anne Shirley (Amybeth McNulty), a young orphaned girl who is mistakenly sent to live with an aging sister and brother.
Over time, 13-year-old Anne will transform the lives of Marilla
(Geraldine James) and Matthew Cuthbert (R.H. Thomson) and eventually the
entire small town in which they live with her unique spirit, fierce
intellect and brilliant imagination.
I Love Dick (May 12 on Amazon)
Adapted from the lauded feminist novel by Chris Kraus, I Love Dick is set in a colorful
academic community in Marfa, Texas. It tells the story of a struggling
married couple, Chris and Sylvere, and their obsession with a
charismatic professor named Dick (Kevin Bacon). I
Love Dick charts the unraveling of a marriage, the awakening of an
artist and the deification of a reluctant messiah.
Downward Dog (May 17 on CBS)
Based on the web series, “Downward Dog” is about a struggling
millennial, Nan (Allison Tolman), from the point
of view of her lonely and philosophical dog, Martin (voiced by Samm Hodges). One session at
obedience school already makes them realize that even at their worst
they may be the best thing for each other.
Twin Peaks (May 21 on Showtime)
Considered one of the most groundbreaking and influential broadcast
series of all time, Twin Peaks followed the residents of a quaint
northwestern town who were stunned when homecoming queen Laura Palmer
was murdered. Twenty-five years later, the story continues.
Dark Angel (May 21 on PBS)
The two-part drama, Dark Angel, is based on the extraordinary true story of the Victorian
poisoner Mary Ann Cotton (Joanne Froggatt).
Traveling around the North-east, she insinuates herself into
unsuspecting families, marrying and creating new families of her own -
before killing them, taking their money and moving on. Starring Jonas Armstrong, Sam Hoare, and Alun Armstrong.
JUNE
I'm Dying Up Here (June 4 on Showtime)
Set in LA’s celebrated, infamous stand-up comedy scene of the 1970s, this show (which has been executive produced by Jim Carrey) delves into the inspired and damaged psyches that inhabit

Claws (June 11 on TNT)

The Mist (June 22 on Spike)
The Mist, based on a Stephen King novel, tells the story about a seemingly

battle the supernatural event and, more importantly, each other.
JULY
Salvation (July 12 on CBS)
Salvation centers on an MIT grad student and a tech superstar who bring a
low-level Pentagon official a staggering discovery--that an asteroid is
just six months away from colliding with Earth. Starring Ian Anthony Dale, Sean Connolly Affleck, and Dennis Boutsikaris.
Midnight, Texas (July 24 on NBC)
Based on the best-selling book series by Charlaine Harris; The town of Midnight sits on a veil between the living and hell. This
supernatural thriller takes a journey into a remote Texas town called
Midnight where nothing is what it seems. Where being normal is strange
and only outsiders fit in, Midnight is a mysterious safe haven for those
who are different - a perfect place for anyone looking to hide from the

AUGUST Marvel's The Defenders (August 18 on Netflix)
The Defenders will feature the famous Marvel heroes Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica
Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) as a legendary superhero-team in New
York City, who come together to face a common enemy, The Hand. Starring Sigourney Weaver, Rosario Dawson, Elden Henson, Rachel Taylor, Jessica Henwick, and Scott Glenn.
I know the show is called Doctor Who, but sometimes it's the companions that steal the show. There have been many companions during the course of the Doctor's travels and they're all memorable in their own way. I fall in love with one of them and then they leave and then I fall in love with the next one and then the next. You can't help but root for every single person on this show, so let's get to know the Doctor's friends.
The first companion of the new series is Rose Tyler (Billie Piper). She's a 19-year-old who doesn't know what to do with her life and winds up being saved by the Doctor, so she travels the universe with him. She'll always be one of my favorites because she's spunky and street smart and so in awe of the Doctor. Her outfits always consist of a black (or red) leather jacket, a red shirt, flare jeans, and boots.
Martha Jones (Freema Agyeman) is a doctor (a real one!) who meets the Doctor when the hospital she works at is transported to the moon. She's intelligent and unafraid and definitely a character to admire. Throw on a beige moto jacket, a purple tee, jeans, a moon phase watch, and brown booties.
Donna Noble & River Song
These two ladies are my favorite companions of the whole series! Donna Noble (Catherine Tate) runs into the Doctor on her wedding day and that's where the fun begins. She's pretty much the only one not in love with the Doctor; she's got some serious sass, she's hilarious, and loves the excitement of it all. Go for a simple but cute outfit of a gray coat, purple sweater, jeans, and black flats.
River Song (Alex Kingston) is a time traveler herself who runs into the Doctor, but never in the right order. She's my absolute favorite! River is the three Fs: feisty, fun, and formidable. Some of the Daleks are afraid of her and that's saying something. I'd give you more information, but spoilers! Travel time and space in a long beige jacket, a light pink top, distressed jeans, and beige boots.
Amy Pond & Rory Williams
Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) and Rory Williams (Arthur Darvill) are a couple that travel with the 11th Doctor. Amy is sassy and tough and maybe wouldn't want admit it but 100% loves Rory. Rory is the sweetest guy ever, who would follow Amy literally anywhere in the world.
Amy wears a lot of red, so throw on a red plaid shirt, a red scarf, a black skirt, red nail polish, and heeled booties. Or for something a little more comfortable, put on a blue plaid top, a puffer vest, black jeans, a watch with Roman numerals (anyone get it?), and brown boots.
Clara Oswald & Bill
Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman) is the impossible girl because she appears at many instances in time, but we meet up with her in the present where she is a super smart school teacher, who is always up for a new adventure. Clara has a girly, professional style, so wear a black blazer, a floral dress, pink stud earrings, and black wedges.
Bill (Pearl Mackie) is the latest companion and she's going to be in the newest season coming next year, so we don't know anything about her yet. She looks like a lot of fun and I'm excited to root for a new companion. Throw on a light jean jacket, a graphic tee, ripped jeans, a layered necklace, blue high tops, a brooch, and you're ready to travel in the Tardis.
Since I've become a bit Doctor Who obsessed I wanted to dedicate an Inspired By post to everyone's favorite Timelord. Last month, I watched all nine seasons and now I understand what the fuss is all about. The show is wonderful because it's an adventure through time and space, it's campy in a good way, it's about solving big and small problems with your intellect rather than with your fist, and you can't help but fall in love and root for the Doctor and his companion, no matter who they are.
My favorite Doctor is the 10th Doctor with the 11th Doctor as a close second because they're both so likable and charming and just plain fun to watch. Who's your favorite?
The new series began in 2005 (after originally airing from 1963 to 1996) with the Doctor being regenerated into the 9th Doctor (Christopher Eccleston). This version of the Doctor is angry, brave, and tough. His clothing choices are basic because he lets his personality shine through his witty dialogue.
For journeying through time and space, wear a zippered leather jacket, blue tunic, cool tights, and wedge booties. Or instead put on a black jacket, t-shirt, jeans, rings, and fold-over boots.
10th Doctor
The 10th Doctor (David Tennant) is friendly, talkative, "foxy," and protective of Earth. He finds joy in traveling in his Tardis and interacting with new people and species. His new look has been called geek chic, which I love.
Go on adventures in your little blue box by throwing on a long, beige jacket, blue dress, glasses, and red velvet flats. Or instead wear a beige cardigan, blue top, jeans, red scarf, and red Converse.
11th Doctor
The 11th Doctor (Matt Smith) is very similar to his previous incarnation because he cares deeply for everyone on Earth, but he's also energetic, caring, and has a child-like wonder. This Doctor saves the day in his classic professor style.
Run around the universe with your companions in a tweed jacket, blue chambray dress, glasses, and black pointed toe flats. Or throw on a yellow blazer, white collared shirt, black jeans, red bow bracelet, and black Oxford flats.
12th Doctor
The most recent version of the Doctor is the 12th Doctor (Peter Capaldi), who is unpredictable, a thrill-seeker, and has a tough exterior. He cares about the people of Earth since it's come to be like a second home to him, but doesn't exactly show it.
Save the world and kick some ass in a white shirt, black vest, red scarf, distressed jeans, and black booties. Or wear a black jacket, white blouse, jeans, sunglasses, and black Oxford flats.

TV shows are no longer watched on only traditional stations or televisions anymore (hello Netflix and iPads!), which is great for people who don't have a TV, but bad for people who like to keep up with everything, like me. But since I can't watch everything or I would I would never have time to read or sleep, I'm going to watch the few that interest me the most.
I'm most looking forward to The Crown, Designated Survivor, The Good Place, Falling Water, Luke Cage, Incorporated, Timeless, and Van Helsing. I don't know if I'll stick with all of these, but I'm always willing to give a show an episode or two to woo me.

Bull

The Good Place
A smart, unique new comedy about what makes a good person. The show follows Eleanor Shellstrop (Kristen Bell), an ordinary woman who enters the afterlife and, thanks to some kind of error, is sent to the Good Place instead of the Bad Place, which is definitely where she belongs. While hiding in plain sight from Michael (Ted Danson), the wise architect of the Good Place (who doesn't know he's made a mistake), she's determined to shed her old way of living and discover the awesome (or, at least, the pretty good) person within. You know when you just need to watch something super cheesy and predictable and romantic? Well, if you're in that mood then I recommend When Calls The Heart. It's a Hallmark Channel show, so at times it's melodramatic and a little ridiculous, but in the best way possible. One episode in and I was addicted.
The show follows Elizabeth, a rich young woman who moves West in 1910 to be a school teacher in a small mining town in Canada. There she is challenged in several ways by small-town life and the people there, especially the new Constable Jack Thornton of the Mounted Police.
Elizabeth (Erin Krakow) is a headstrong, risilient, stubborn, kind, and incredibly smart young woman who moves away from her high-class life in the East with her parents and sisters to be a teacher in a small town in the West. She's unaccostumed to this tougher life, but Abigail helps her adjust and gives her advice.
Elizabeth loves pastels, so bring 1910 style into 2016 with soft colors for spring. Wear a lavender dress, pink cardigan, leaf bracelet, and nude wedges. Or try on a white blouse tucked into a purple lace skirt, watch, and nude flats.
Jack
Constable Jack (Daniel Lissing) is caring, kind, hardworking, and has a strong sense of justice. He comes to Coal Valley on assignment and immediately wants to leave, especially since he and Elizabeth don't get along at first.
Adjust Jack's Mouned Police uniform for the office by throwing on a red blazer, blue top, black trousers, and brown boots. Or go casual in a light chambray top, distressed denim, teal watch, and blue sneakers.
Abigail
After Abigail's husband and son died in a mining accident, she felt lost until Elizabeth came to town and offered her friendship. Later on, Abigail opens a restaurant in town and it's a huge hit. She's motherly and kind and offers advice to everyone and tells it like it is.
Dress like Abigail by wearing a black top, printed kimono, yellow lace skirt, and blue flats. Or instead put on a printed teal blouse, dark green skirt, and black booties.
Rosemary
Rosemary (Pascale Hutton) was an actress on Broadway, but comes to town to reunite with Jack after two years. She's dramatic, loud, and self-centered, but ultimately good-natured.
Rosemary likes A LOT of pink, so throw on a pink moto jacket, a t-shirt with "basic just won't do" since she could never be basic, jeans, and pink flats. Or maybe a pink lace top, black skirt, red crossbody bag, and pink heels.
