Can I go to the movie theater every weekend this month? Sometimes twice? Well, I guess I could, but then I would have no money since it's so expensive. But I'm definitely seeing Warm Bodies and Beautiful Creatures. No amount of homework will stop me!
Warm Bodies
A romantic comedy based on a book by Isaac Marion, the movie follows R (Nicholas Hoult), a young man who is also a zombie. One day while out searching for food (ie. human brains) with some other zombies, R eats the brains of a young man (Dave Franco) and gets all his memories of Julie (Teresa Palmer). R rescues Julie from getting eaten and keeps her safe, and Julie realizes that he's not like other zombies. As they grow closer, R becomes increasingly more human. I read the book, which was hilarious, so I'm excited to see this! (February 1)
Identity Thief
In this comedy, a regular guy (Jason Bateman) goes in search of the seemingly harmless-looking woman (Melissa McCarthy) who stole his identity. How far will he go to clear his name? Watch the trailer here. This movie looks so funny! Bateman and McCarthy never disappoint! (February 8)
Side Effects
To treat her anxiety over her husband's (Channing Tatum) upcoming release from jail, Emily's (Rooney Mara) psychiatrist (Jude Law) prescribes her a new drug which causes unexpected side effects. Watch the trailer here. This drama looks suspenseful, scary, and mind-blowingly great. I'm so curious to know what the side effects are and what those side effects make her do. (February 8)
Beautiful Creatures
Based on the YA book by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl, this supernatural love story in the Southern town of Gatlin follows Ethan Wate (Alden Ehrenreich), an average teenage boy who meets the new girl, Lena Duchannes (Alice Englert), and instantly feels a connection. Ethan soon discovers that Lena is a Castor, a person who can use magic, and that on her 16th birthday she will be claimed either Light or Dark, which she has no control over. The book was amazing; well-rounded characters,
history, magic, and lots of layers to the story. This is a movie I can't wait to see! (February 14)
