Book time! I absolutely love coming up with outfits based on books; every month it's one of my favorite posts to put together. If there are any books or book covers that you really like, let me know in the comments!
Last month, I only read two novels, and I blame this on my discovery of KDramas (Korean TV shows) on Netflix and Dramafever. The two books I read were really good. Cress by Marissa Meyer is the third installment in the Lunar Chronicles series and continues the journey of Cinder and Scarlet, and now Cress, as they try to take down the Lunar Queen who wants to take over New Beijing and then the world.
I also read All You Need is Kill by Hiroshi Sakurazaka (translated by Alexander O. Smith), which is about a Japanese soldier who dies on the battlefield fighting aliens only to be reborn everyday. The only other person who knows what he's going through is the Full Metal Bitch, a U.S. soldier hundreds of kills under her belt. It was fast-paced and kept my interest. Also, a movie based on the book is coming out soon called Edge of Tomorrow.
The School for Good and Evil: A World Without Princes
Written by Soman Chainani, the sequel to The School for Good and Evil follows Agatha and Sophie, who are living out their Ever After, but they decide to reopen the school. Everything they knew has changed -- witches and princesses are getting along -- but despite all this a war is brewing.
Based on Sophie, wear a black dress with lace cutouts, hair pins, a pink necklace, a spike ring, and pink ankle-strap heels. Or go for a look based on Agatha: wear a white sweater, white jeans, a black necklace, gold rings, and lace-up boots.

Dorothy Must Die
Written by Danielle Paige, Dorothy Must Die is about Amy Gumm, an ordinary girl from Kansas who is swept to Oz after a tornado carries her trailer there. The only problem is that Oz isn't how she remembers from the movie; it turns out Dorothy came back to Oz and seized power, and now only Amy can stop her. (I just started reading this and it's great!)
For a classic, summer look go for a blue gingham top, distressed jean shorts, a white flower necklace, and yellow sneakers. Or for a bit of a glam look, wear a gingham maxi dress, a rhinestone necklace, red earrings, and nude heeled sandals.

The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry
Written by Gabrielle Zevin, this novel is about A.J. Fikry, a bookstore owner on a small island. His life isn't how he hoped it would turn out now that his wife is dead and his prize possession has been stolen, but then one day a small but heavy package arrives that completely changes his life. What's in the package? Maya, a two-year-old.
Dress like little Maya by wearing a white dress, printed coral sneakers, and an orange bag. Or instead go for a look based on A.J. Fikry: a red blazer, a polka dot top, jeans, a book necklace, and brown oxfords.

Creativity, Inc.
Written by Ed Catmull, Creativity, Inc. is a book, written by the people behind Pixar Animation, for managers to get their employees to tap into their creativity and build a creative culture, but it could no doubt help anyone looking for help on how to get to their creative side and find their inspiration.
For a fun outfit, wear an OMG beanie, a red cardigan, a "Something beautiful is on the horizon" tee, a black and white floral skirt, silver rings, and olive open-toe booties. Or for more of a professional look, go for a orange dress, a sun necklace, an infinity ring, and bow wedges.

Have you read any of these books?
Any good book recommendations for me?
Sara this post is incredible!! I love that you are translating your inspiration from bookcovers into fashion outfits. As an artist I'm constantly translating inspiration from the things I see in New York and around the world into my artwork.
