I don't wear mini skirts all that often even though I like them. Why is that? Well, I'm going to be real with you guys because we're friends: I'm self-conscious of my stomach. It's not groundbreaking; we're all self-conscious of something (although if you're not I'm really jealous and now think you're awesome), but I've always been self-conscious of my little pooch, as my mom calls it (thanks, Mom).
Now that I'm back from Austin I'm going to make a better effort to go the gym because if you don't like something you should change it, right? That's what I've always been told. But on the other side of the coin there are those that say you should accept your body for what it is. Well, I accept that I'm short and that I'm a little curvy and always will be, but I also want to love my body even more and sometimes that means changing it. We should always strive to be better and that's what I'm working on.

I don't really agree with the whole body positivity thing. I feel like some people will use it as an excuse to not be healthy. Having curves is awesome, but some people really do have a weight problem, and this mind set is like giving a pass to not address a problem. I have a pooch too, don't let that stop you from wearing a mini skirt! You rock it! P.S. i love that coat!!
ReplyDeleteP.P.S. I really like this girl's look. She's curvy and not afraid to rock a belly shirt once in a while. I thought you'd be interested :) http://anjanidee.blogspot.com/2014/10/fallproof.html
ReplyDeleteYou look lovely! I'm working on loving my stomach too.
ReplyDeleteIt's always good to make the changes you want for yourself. You look amazing!

saraaaaa, i must say this outfit is really rather adorable! love the skirt - i'm kind of surprised i've never seen it before hahaha i think you have a great point here and i think positivity is so important! in order to inspire myself, i continue to be on a path of health, its so so so important to live a healthy life, it doesn't necessarily have to be the number on a scale but feeling like you fit into something better, clearer skin or walking up a flight of stairs two at a time feeling like superman, each person is different and i think that is what makes us all beautiful :) I'm gonna be back at the gym tooooooo gotta work on my pooch hahahahaha love you sarabara xo <3
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this outfit Sara! You look beautiful :) I don't wear skirts often because I'm self conscious of my legs! But I like wearing skirts with tights... I feel comfortable if I have tights on underneath :)
