Inspired By: Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children

I read Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children when it first came out and have loved it ever since. The story is wonderfully odd, there are creepy vintage photographs throughout the book, the peculiar children and their talents are strange but cool, and the wights are scary. It all makes for a very unusual and fun series. The fact that Tim Burton is directing the movie is PERFECT! I don't think anyone else could do it as well as he. Can you tell I'm excited for this movie?!

The book by Ransom Riggs and movie follow Jacob Portman, a 16-year-old boy from the U.S., who journeys to Wales with his father after the death of his grandfather. There, he discovers a crumbling building that was once Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children that his grandfather spoke of. The children and Miss Peregrine should be long dead, but Jacob has a feeling they're still very much alive.

The movie is coming out on September 30 in the U.S.

Jacob
Miss Peregrine -- Jacob

Jacob (Asa Butterfield) is trying to come to terms with the death of his grandfather and the nightmares that have come from seeing his death and possibly something else that was there that day, so his therapist suggests he take a trip to Wales to feel connected to his grandfather. He just wants to be normal, but he discovers that he's anything but.

Keep warm and dry but snuggling into a navy sweater, olive jacket, beige circle scarf, jeans, and brown lace-up boots. Or if you're journeying into a loop, throw on a striped top, distressed jeans, a marble watch, a striped backpack, and grey sneakers. You never know when you might have to do some running from some wights.

Emma
Miss Peregrine -- Emma
Emma (Ella Purnell) is a young woman who has been under the care of Miss Peregrine for a very long time. She and Jacob's grandfather used to write letters to each other, so when she meets Jacob and discovers who he is she's surprised and a bit hurt. In the book, Emma could control fire, but in the movie she can control the weather and must be tethered or she'd float away.

Reach for cool colors by wearing a printed white dress, a simple bow choker, a blue watch, and gray lace-up boots. Or instead reach for a light blue dress, a fire-y orange scarf, a black belt, and olive booties to mix up both iterations of her character.

Miss Peregrine
Miss Peregrine -- Miss Peregrine
Miss Peregrine (Eva Green) is the strong headmistress in charge of all of the peculiar children and the loop in which they live. She cares for her charges a lot and will do anything to keep them safe. She's a ymbryne, which means she can turn into a bird at will and controls the loop.

Miss Peregrine has a cool, dark style, so put on a long, black coat, a navy dress, bird-like earrings, and Victorian-style lace-up boots. Or for something a little more modern, throw on a leather moto jacket, a velvet and lace blue dress, and black heeled booties.
