Book Photo Challenge {August 2014}

I love photo challenges! They really do challenge me to think about the pictures I'm taking and how I can make my photos better and more appealing to the eye. As the month goes on, I'm trying new angles, using white space, or just in general trying something new. 

Even though I love these challenges, I haven't done one in a long time, maybe a year. When I heard about the book photo challenge I thought it would be fun to try. I love books, so why not? I tried to do Fat Mum Slim's photo a day challenge this month, but forgot two weeks ago (oops). I think I'm going to try October's book photo challenge. Hopefully I won't forget this time.

Photo A Day Challenge (August 2013) + Fall Into Place Giveaway! [CLOSED]

These pictures capture all my adventures in New York City with friends and family. During the course of the month, I went to the Met with my family, went to the Strand bookstore with my brothers, walked around Central Park and visited Alice's Teacup (yes, again) with Rachel, and then again visited the Strand but this time with Rachel. This whole summer I visited the city more times than any other summer before and it was wonderful! I knew I had to take advantage of the fact that I wasn't working because now that I'm back in school and looking for a full-time job, I won't be able to go gallivanting into the city on a weekday whenever I want. Well, maybe some days I will. 

Also, I just wanted to let you know that this will be the last Photo A Day Challenge I do until January. I want to be able to focus on writing and not have to remember to take a photo everyday.

Photo A Day Challenge {June 2013}

After taking a few months off from Fat Mum Slim's Photo A Day Challenge because of school, I decided to get back into it since it's so enjoyable. It's challenging in the best way; it makes me think about the subject or object in question, the composition, the angles, the colors or lack of it, etc. Some were easier than others of course, and some turned out pretty mediocre, but that's all part of the fun.

January Photo A Day Challenge



As you know, last month I participated in Chantelle's Photo A Day Challenge, and I have to say I really like the pictures I took. I'm by no means the best photographer in the world, but I tried to take pictures that captured a moment; a certain action or emotion or part of my day. And I think I accomplished that for the most part. What do you think?

Since I'm back in school now, I won't be continuing the challenge until possibly May or June.

Photo A Day Challenge (July)

Wow, it feels like July just blew right past me. It can't possibly be August tomorrow already, can it? Wasn't it June like two days ago? Anyway, here are the pictures I took for the Photo A Day July Challenge created by Fat Mum Slim.

I didn't keep up with the challenge as well as I did in June. I did take a picture for every prompt, but a few times during the month I did some "photo dumps" on Twitter, where I put several days of pictures up at once. It's hard to take a picture every single day for a whole month. All in all, I think I did pretty well though. I'm glad I didn't miss a day!

Photo A Day Challenge (June)

I loved participating in Chantelle's Photo A Day Challege and can't believe I didn't try it sooner! Every day was a different prompt (like "morning" or "from a high angle"). For me, what made it fun and challenging was the same thing -- coming up with a something to take a picture of and how I should take the picture. For the "time" prompt, should I simply go with taking a picture of a clock, or should I be more creative? Should I take a close up so it's more artistic?

I love the variety in what you could do. After clicking #photoadayjune on Twitter, I saw that everyone made the daily prompt their own and no two pictures were alike.

Sidenote: I use Snapseed (the best photo app ever!) on all my pictures to enhance them or to simply make them look cool.
