Inspiration: Dark Beauty

There are a few things I do when winter is on the horizon: take out my scarves and boots, put all of my dark nail polishes front and center on my armoire, and switch the pink lipsticks for the berry ones in my bag. Yep, the time has come for dark lipstick, moody nail polish colors, and dramatic smokey eyes! And now I wish I had those cool moon decals like in one of the images below. So cool.

NaNoWriMo {Inspiration + Snippets}

I know I've been talking on and on about NaNoWriMo for the past thirteen days, but I haven't mentioned what I'm actually working on. So if you're curious what I'm been using all of my available brain cells and free time on, well here you go:

It's a young adult novel about a young woman named Melaina who discovers that time travel is possible when you have one of seven magical devices. The first problem is that someone is going back in time and killing the owners of the time traveling devices out of revenge, and that person is Melaina from two years in the future. The second problem is that Melaina doesn't have a device of her own and she has to find a way to stop the future Melaina from killing more people. So how do you stop yourself?

It's all about making your own fate vs. what's been chosen for you, friendship, love, and doing what's right rather than what's easy. There's time travel, a cute glasses-wearing guy, lots of coffee and cookies, and of course murder.

I'm doing really well at reaching the daily goal and most days write a little bit extra. So I hope *fingers crossed* that I get to 50,000 words by November 30th. I want that sweet relief in knowing I hit the goal!

Inspired By: Man Up

I'm a huge fan of Simon Pegg and Lake Bell AND romantic comedies, so the movie Man Up is a win-win for me. Nancy is mistaken for Jack's blind date under the Waterloo Station in London, but she decides to take fate into her own hands and go with it. What could possibly be wrong? It looks like a funny and heart-warming story. 

It has a limited release starting tomorrow.

Nancy (Lake Bell) is a 34-year-old woman who pretends to be Jack's blind date in order to hopefully find the guy of her dreams. I love her quirky style with deep, fall colors. Wear an insect print blouse, gray jeans, and printed sneakers. Or for something a little more cozy go out in a burgundy coat, fox sweater, jeans, and brown booties.

Jack (Simon Pegg) is a divorcee expecting to go on a date with one woman, but it turns out she's someone else entirely. He has a wardrobe of classic clothes. Put on a gray coat, a chambray top, black jeans, a blue scarf, and polka dot sneakers. Or for a simple weekend out wear a gray top, jeans, a sparkly necklace, and fuschia flats.

Outfit: Black As Night

Right now, I'm sticking to simple, basic outfits for one very important reason: NaNoWriMo! If you've never heard of it, it's National Novel Writing Month, where writers across the world hibernate inside their homes for the whole month of November in order to write 50,000 words. 

This past summer, I wrote about half a novel (it's a YA book about time travel) in two notebooks, so I'm spending part of the month typing it up and then I'll finish the month writing as much as I possibly can. Are you participating in NaNoWriMo this year? (If you are, let's be writing buddies!)
