Review: Kat Von D Lock-It Vox Box

I've been using the same Maybelline Fit Me concealer for over a year now. It's a great concealer, but it can get cakey and doesn't stay well when I sweat, so when I got this Influenster vox box of Kat Von D Lock-It concealers I was so excited to try something new and hopefully better. And oh my god, these are much, much better!

I got the Lock-It Concealer in two colors, but mostly use the Light3 since it fits my skin tone best. This concealer goes on smoothly, covers blemishes and redness to perfection, doesn't wipe away when I got a drop of sweat, and stays put for hours. I really like the wide doe foot applicator because it picks up just enough concealer and makes applying very easy. A tube of this is a little expensive for me, but a little goes a long way. 

The Lock-It Setting Powder feels like air it's so light. Just a swipe or two on my face and my skin feels flawless and smooth. It's lightweight, reduces shine, and keeps the oil at bay, though not forever. 

The concealer brush and the setting powder brush are amazing. The concealer brush is short and thick and blends the concealer so well. I also like using it to put eyeshadow on. The setting powder brush is the softest thing on the planet! It's perfect for dabbing on the powder and also for putting on blush too. Who says brushes are just for one thing?

Outfit: Shades of Gray

I got this little wooden Tardis brooch from a past OwlCrate and didn't think much of it because a few months ago I wasn't much of a Doctor Who fan, but two weeks ago I decided to start from the very beginning and watch every episode of the show. And it's SO GOOD! I'm currently on season three and David Tennent is the best. I can already tell he's going to be my favorite Doctor. Does anyone else watch? Who's your favorite Doctor? 

I wore my Tardis brooch last Friday to The Pandorica, which is a Doctor Who-themed restaurant in Beacon, NY. It was my second time going and I wanted to take my brothers because Ben likes watching Doctor Who and Leo just likes good food.

Six Falls Trends {2016}

Get excited because fall fashion is here! Cooler weather is on the way, so it's time to think about scarves, sweaters, and new trends. I can see myself wearing all of these chic and feminine trends and I already want more florals and cardigans (as if I need more). 

ONE | DARK FLORALS

Now this is a trend I can get behind! My love for florals runs deep, so I'm happy to see dark florals is a trend this fall. I wear florals regardless of whether it's "in," but now there are more options in store for me. The perfect trend for ladies with girly or bohemian or classic styles.

TWO | GRAY, PALE PINK & YELLOW

It seems spring is in this fall because popular colors right now are gray, pale dusty pink, and soft yellow. Mix your classic fall colors, like navy, burgundy, plum, and mustard, with these pretty and bright colors that are usually associated with fall. I'm especially in love with this pretty pale pink!

THREE | LONG CARDIGANS

Autumn means snuggly cardigans and I'm all for it. The snugglier the better! Long cardigans are big right now and they'll keep you warm all winter long. There's a long cardigan in every color that's perfect for every style, so you're sure to find one that suits you.

FOUR | BOMBER JACKETS

If cardigans aren't your thing, then check out bomber jackets. Whether you want one that's silky or quilted or patched or floral or looks like a letterman jacket, there's one for you. They'll keep you warm and make you look cool. 

FIVE | PLAID

Plaid is in style every year, but can you blame it? Plaid is a classic and everyone loves it. It also comes in many different iterations from classic plaid to big plaid to windowpane and even houndstooth. My favorite plaid scarf is just waiting to be worn!

SIX | JUMPSUITS

I wasn't in love with this trend at first, but it's definitely grown on me. These ones are super chic, feminine, and a touch professional, and I'm on the hunt for the perfect one that I can wear to work and on the weekends.

Watch | Read | Listen {September 2016}

I'm so happy it's September because that means fall is coming! AND it means Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children is hitting theaters! I've been dying to see this movie for months, ever since glimpsing the teaser trailer. I can tell they've made several changes to it (one of which is very obvious character change), but I'm still looking forward to it. 

As far as books, I want to read every single one I've listed below. *grabby hands*

MOVIES

The Light Between Oceans

Based on a novel, Tom Sherbourne (Michael Fassbender), a lighthouse keeper and war veteran, and his wife Isabel (Alicia Vikander) are living off the coast in post-World War I Western Australia. One day, the couple rescue a baby girl on an adrift rowboat and decide to informally adopt her as their own. But Tom and Isabel discover the consequences of raising the child when an encounter with a particular woman (Rachel Weisz) threatens to break apart their blissfully happy family. {Watch the trailer} (September 2)

Sully

On January 15, 2009, pilots Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger (Tom Hanks) depart from LaGuardia Airport and take off. Barely three minutes into the flight, disaster strikes. Without engine power and no airport within range, Sully is forced to land his ill-fated airliner in the frigid waters of the Hudson River. He is dubbed a hero by the press for his actions. But afterward, Sully's life is invaded by reporters and investigators who force Sully to put his job, family and reputation on the line. {Watch the trailer} This was everywhere on the news (especially since I live 20 minutes from the Hudson), and Tom Hanks is a great actor. (September 9)

Mr. Church 

Charlotte (Britt Robertson) lives with her single mother Marie (Natascha McElhone). One day, a stranger named Mr. Church (Eddie Murphy) comes to cook for the family. Charlie doesn’t like this mysterious man, but Marie finds out he was hired by Marie's deceased ex-lover to take care of her for six months because she has breast cancer and only has six months to live. {Watch the trailer} You know a movie is going to be good when the trailer makes you tear up. (September 16)

The Dressmaker 

In 1926 in the Australian outback, schoolboy Stewart Pettyman dies in unknown circumstances. The only witness to his death, schoolgirl Myrtle Dunnage, is branded a murderer and exiled from town. 25 years later in 1951, Myrtle, now an accomplished dressmaker and going by the name Tilly (Kate Winslet), returns to her hometown to take care of her ill mother Molly. Also starring Hugo Weaving, Liam Hemsworth, and Judy Davis. {Watch the trailer} I heard this called a "revenge comedy-drama," and that sounds fantastic to me. (September 23)

Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children

When his grandfather mysteriously dies, 16-year-old Jacob Portman (Asa Butterfield) travels and discovers "Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children", run by the mysterious Miss Peregrine (Eva Green). However, he is chosen to protect the Peculiar Children as an evil band of forces is intent on killing them, know as the "Hollows" and "Wights", led by the mysterious Mr. Barron. {Watch the trailer} SO. FREAKING. EXCITED. (September 30)

When you're a #bookowl like myself, it means two things. 1. You read as many books as possible because owls are your spirit animal and they represent knowledge. 2. You buy anything and everything with owls on it. This t-shirt is just another owl-tastic thing I've added to my collection. It was too cute not get, right? And luckily I got it for only a few bucks on Poshmark. 

Isn't this little book adorable?! It goes into the plot and characters and background of Jane Austen's novels and as a self-proclaimed Austenite I couldn't pass it up. There are a bunch of others, like Shakespeare and Poe, in case you want a mini classic book.
