Jess is taking over my blog today!
We decided to collaborate this month since we're sponsoring each other's blogs. We thought it would be fun to dress up as our favorite book characters and ask each other bookish questions! Hop on over to her blog to see my outfit!
Hello everyone! This is Jess from Bookworms in Dresses!
I'm taking over for the day to share a character that I know and love...as well as answer some bookish questions! I always wish that I could climb into the worlds of the books, comics, and manga that I read...which might be why I got so into cosplay in high school!
I'm sharing an outfit today that I styled off of Angus, Thongs, and Full-Frontal Snogging by Louise Rennison! I LOVED this series back in middle school and into high school, I loved Georgia Nicolson so much! So much so that I actually did a dramatic reading of one of the book scenes for my speech and debate class in high school! I got an A on it, by the way! The Confessions of Georgia Nicolson series will always hold a special place in my heart! It was so funny and the characters reminded me of myself and my friends at that age in many ways! I couldn't help styling an outfit from the series!
1. If you could change the fate of one book character, who would you choose?
There are so many to choose from and a part of me wants to save every third wheel of the love triangle that gets killed simply to make the choice of the hero/heroine easier. But, I'm actually going to choose Ana from Fifty Shades of Grey, I want to deliver her into the arms of a man who is not abusive and terrifying. I want to prevent her from having to go through all those situations. I want to save all those girls who end up in relationships with awful men, Bella, I'm looking at you and Edward too.
2. What character or story first got you into cosplay?
While at the time I had no idea what cosplay was or how to even go about doing it, the character that got me into it was Sakura, from Card Captor Sakura. It used to be on TV (I don't even remember what channel!) after school when I was little and I was IN LOVE with all her outfits that she wore when she captured the monsters in the cards! I wanted to dress up like her and I would always draw my own versions of her costumes, wishing that one day I could make those costumes! Now, here I am, making costumes and wearing them to conventions!
3. What book do you wish you had written?
I wish I had the capabilities to write mystery books with amazing plot twists, so I'm going to say I wish I had written The Likeness by Tana French. I loved that book and I've been in love with murder mystery books for a long time, I wish that my mind worked in a way that let me write those sort of stories with plot twists that you can't actually guess coming!
4. What author would you like to be seated next to on a plane?
I think I'd love to be seated next to Stephen King. He was one of my first ever favorite authors and I've read so many of his books. I also think that he would be so much fun to talk to, to hear first had how he comes up with his ideas, and I think I'd had some crazy dreams that he'd be delighted to hear about.
5. Do you have any bad book habits?
I have this really weird habit where when I read I flip the rest of the pages through my fingers over and over again that annoys anyone seated close to me. I also dog-ear pages from time to time, oops!
6. Which fandom would you want to live in? Which fandom do you definitely not want to live in?
I used to live in the Supernatural fandom, at least on Tumblr, but things can get pretty hostile with the shipping wars that go on in the fandom. Not to mention, all the girls on the show tend to die, so if I was actually in that universe, with my luck I'd be killed off pretty early, so I guess I don't want to live there!
I've really loved being in the Gravity Falls fandom though, there is so much to discuss with the plot, the twists, and the hidden clues in the show. It's such a fun show and the characters are super lovable. I'd want to live in Gravity Falls!
7. What makes you want to read a book?
I hate to admit it, but the cover art does sway me in some instances. Being a graphic designer, I love stand out book covers! Although, what it really comes down to is friend recommendation. I love reading books that others tell me about because then I can talk to them about the book once I finish it! I love talking to others about books!
Who is your favorite book character?
Which fandom would you want to live in?
so nice to "meet" her! headed to her blog now!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice idea!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun idea! I love her outfit :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE the Georgia Nicolson books! Still have all of them as I just can't bring myself to get rid of them! I have finally stopped dog-earing book pages, and now it drives me nuts when I see those permanent bend lines on my books from when I used to do it haha! This is such a great idea for a blog sponsor post; I can't wait to see Sara's on your blog!
ReplyDeleteLoved reading this and getting to know her better! I already read her blog but it was fun to learn some new things about her. At first I was really sad for her when she said Ana from Fifty Shades but when I read her reasoning on why, I LOVED it! Such a great answer

This outfit is so spot on! I loved these books when I was younger and they were one of the biggest sources of bonding between a friend and I. Georgia is such a special character and this post idea is awesome! Great swap :)
ReplyDeleteGreat post and photos! :)

Fun idea for a series! I enjoyed reading your article as well.
ReplyDeleteAnd oh main- my best friend in middle school lent me these books and I loved them too! Fun choice!!
♥ perfectly Priya
This outfit is so perfect for that series. I loved it in middle school--I think I read at least three of them!
ReplyDeleteOh, great outfit! This was one of my favorites series growing up, too. :)
ReplyDeleteI loved these books so much! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteMiddle school was when I read it as well, it was so cute!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I lent them out to my friends too, I couldn't just keep them to myself!
ReplyDeleteI even called my mom Mutti and my dad Vati for a while after reading them, I took German in high school so it kind of fit! haha!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I love these pants too!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you understood my reasoning, I know it's been a hot topic recently. While in the books Grey changed his personality, I feel like sadly, in real life that situation wouldn't lead to such a happy ending. :) Thank you!
ReplyDeleteI know! I couldn't get rid of them either! I dog-earred all my college text books and the habit carried over to reading regular books for a while too!
ReplyDeleteThank you!! :)
ReplyDeleteI didn't realise this was in the US as well! Was the British English difficult to understand sometimes? I sometimes struggled with American English, like with "mouth breathers" (you're meant to breath with your mouth right???) and "smacking his lips" which I had no idea about.
ReplyDeleteI also am a sucker for cover art...
