The most beautiful month of the year is here: October! The leaves are changing, there's a chill in the air, everyone has Halloween decorations and pumpkins out in front of their door, and a bunch of awesome new stuff is coming out. So get ready because October is looking to be a hell of a good month.
MOVIES
The Martian
A mission to Mars goes awry, and astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon) is presumed dead and left behind on the planet by his crew. Watney manages to survive. He then fights for his survival in the harsh environment of Mars, to signal others on Earth that he is still alive. Upon discovering Watney's signal, NASA and scientists all around Earth collaborate to find a way to rescue him. {Watch the trailer.} I'm am SO seeing this! (October 2)
Pan
12-year-old orphan Peter (Levi Miller) is spirited away to the magical world of Neverland, where he finds both fun and dangers, and ultimately discovers his destiny -- to become the hero who will be forever known as Peter Pan. Also starring Hugh Jackman, Garrett Hedlund, and Rooney Mara. {Watch the trailer.} Doesn't this look absolutely magical? (October 9)
Room
After 5-year old Jack (Jacob Tremblay) and his Ma (Brie Larson) escape from the enclosed surroundings that Jack has known his entire life, the boy makes a thrilling discovery: the outside world. {Watch the trailer.} All I'm going to say is: Whoa. (October 16)
Goosebumps
Teenager Zach (Dylan Minnette) teams up with the daughter (Odeya Rush) of young adult horror author R.L. Stine (Jack Black) after the writer's imaginary demons are set free on the town of Greendale, Maryland. {Watch the trailer.} I never read the books as a kid, but this movie looks like so much fun, even for adults. (October 16)
