Watch | Read | Listen {July 2016}

I'm definitely a child at heart because almost all of the movies I want to see this month are kids movies. Most of the time I'd rather see something that will make me laugh than make me cry, and movies for kids are all about humor with a dash of emotion and insight about us pesky humans.

But what I'm most excited about this month is, you guessed it, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child! I never thought another Harry Potter book would come out and while I'm sad it's a play instead of in narration, I'll take whatever I can get. #Potterheadforlife

P.S. -- Kristin and Megan are doing a #PotterMonth link-up, so check it out!

MOVIES

The BFG
Roald Dahl, Walt Disney, and Steven Spielberg are bringing the beloved children's classic The BFG to life. It tells the story of a young girl who encounters a Giant in Giant County and all of the wonders and perils she sees. {Watch the trailer} I never read the book, but the movie looks absolutely magical. (July 1)

The Secret Life of Pets
What exactly do our pets do when we're not around? Sleep? Eat things? Plot adventures? The Secret Life of Pets is a comedy about the lives our pets lead after we leave for work or school each day. Voiced by Louis C.K., Eric Stonestreet, Kevin Hart, Steve Coogan, Ellie Kemper, and more. {Watch the trailer} MUST SEE THIS MOVIE! I've been dying to see this every since I saw the trailer months ago. It looks so cute! Who else wants to see this? (July 8)

Ghostbusters
The reboot of Ghostbusters is here! Delve back into this hilarious, supernatural world with a new cast of characters played by Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones. Watch them save the world and crack jokes. {Watch the trailer} Don't get me wrong, I love the original Ghostbusters, but an all-female Ghostbusters girl squad? Hell yes! I love all four of these amazing actresses and I can't wait to see them kick some ghost ass! (July 15)

Ice Age: Collision Course
Cute little Scrat in pursuit of an acorn accidentally sets off a series of cosmic events that transform and threaten the Ice Age world. To save themselves and the planet, Sid, Manny, Diego, and the rest of the herd must leave their home and travel to new lands. Starring Ray Romano, Denis Leary, John Leguizamo, Queen Latifa, Simon Pegg, Keke Palmer, and more. {Watch the trailer} Anyone else obsessed with these Ice Age movies?! I'll wait to see this one on Netflix, but I'm still excited about it. (July 22)

Star Trek Beyond
J.J. Abrams returns with the next installment of Star Trek where our U.S.S. Enterprise crew must fight for their lives and everything the Federation stands for against a mysterious new enemy. Starring Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, Zachary Quinto, Simon Pegg, Karl Urban, John Cho, Anton Yelchin (RIP), and more. {Watch the trailer} I've already purchased my ticket! I never ever miss a Star Trek movie. (July 22)

Jason Bourne
Matt Damon returns for his most iconic role: Jason Bourne. Bourne is drawn out of the shadows when he finally recovers his memories and old secrets come to the surface. Also starring Julia Stiles, Alicia Vikander, and Tommy Lee Jones. {Watch the trailer} I love a good action movie and Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass never fail to deliver. (July 29)

As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places. (July 31)
