Inspired By: Books Turned Movies

I'm currently reading Vicious by V.E. Scwab (and loving it!), but The Moon and The Sun sounds really interesting, don't you think? I'm also adding the movie to my Netflix queue. What are you currently reading?

The Longest Ride
The Longest Ride
Written by Nicholas Sparks, this story follows the love affair of Luke, a champion bull rider, and Sophia, a college student about to leave for a dream job in New York City. As conflicts arise to test their relationship, Sophia and Luke make a connection with Ira, whose memories of his own romance inspire the young couple.

Put on a light blue dress, a light cowboy hat, metal bracelets, and brown cowboy boots to dress like Sophia. Or throw on a beaded cowboy hat, a chambray shirt, dark wash jeans, a crescent moon necklace, and short brown boots. (Release Date: April 10)

The Moon and The Sun
The Moon and The Sun
Written by Vonda N. McIntyre, Louis XIV rules in 17th century France. Wealth and beauty take all. Louis sends his philosopher on an expedition to seek the source of immortality -- the rare, perhaps mythical, sea monsters. Father Yves de la Croix returns with his treasures: one heavy shroud packed in ice and an imprisoned shrieking creature.

Dress like the mythical and beautiful sea creature in a blue and green baroque-like printed dress, mermaid earrings, nude heels, and a blue studded bag. Or wear an outfit inspired by King Louis XIV: a long green coat, a white asymmetical top, black trousers, a gray watch, and cut-out oxfords. (Release Date: April 10)

Child 44
Child 44
Written by Tom Rob Smith, this story is set in 1953 Soviet Russia and follows secret police agent Leo Demidov, who loses status, power, and his home when he refuses to denounce his own wife, Raisa, as a traitor. Exiled from Moscow, Leo and Raisa join forces with General Nesterov to track down a serial killer who preys on young boys.

Wear an olive jacket, a black tunic dress, a long necklace, arrow ring, and black booties to dress. Or throw on a gray coat, a light blue tunic top, olive pants, a map watch, a brown backpack, and brown lace-up boots. (Release Date: April 17)

Far From The Maddening Crowd
Far From the Maddening Crowd
Written by Thomas Hardy,  independent and spirited Bathsheba Everdene has come to Weatherbury to take up her position as a farmer on the largest estate in the area. Her bold presence draws three very different suitors: the gentleman-farmer Boldwood, the soldier-seducer Sergeant Troy, and the devoted shepherd Gabriel Oak. All of them complicate her life.

Dress like Bathsheba's soldier suitor by wearing a bright red flowy blouse, a long necklace, jeans, and black tassel loafers. Or instead dress like the young lady herself in a yellow chiffon dress, blue necklace, midi rings, and pointed toe leopard print flats. (Release Date: May 1)

  4. Ok I totally want to The Longest Ride movie when it comes out (maybe it already did?) that seems like a fun romantic date I can convince my bf to go on, and then cry the whole time. I have actually never read a Nicholas Sparks book! I love the picks you have for this one...seems very Southern, actually. Have a great weekend, Sara!

  10. The Longest Ride outfits are perfect. Exactly what I would picture her wearing. Where are those green cargo skinny pants from?? I've been looking for a pair just like that with no luck.
