Hogwarts Story Tag

Kayly of My Open Sketchbook tagged me to do the My Hogwarts Story Tag and I absolutely had to do it because hello it's a Harry Potter tag!

Are you Pureblood, Half Blood, or Muggle Born?
Defintely Half Blood. My dad is not the magical sort, but my mom has magic (ie. artistic abilities).

Which wand chose you (and what is it made of)?
According to Pottermore, my wand is made of Dogwood with a Pheonix Feather core and it's 11 inches. It's also "suprisingly swishy."

Did you take an Owl, Cat, Toad, or Rat with you?
Definitely an owl. How else would I stay in touch my friends over the summer months?

Where did the Sorting Hat place you?
Hufflepuff!
What House did you want to be in?
Gryffindor sounds great (who doesn't want to be called brave, right?), but Hufflepuff is definitely where I'm supposed to be.

What lessons are your favorite and least favorite?
My favorite would be Charms and Transfiguration because I want to learn about all the different spells and be able to use them. My least favorite would be History of Magic (boring) followed by Potions (cooking and baking are not my forte).

The form your Patronus takes is...
An owl! I love owls so much! They're definitely my spirit animal. They're symbolic of intuition, intelligence, emotion, and the ability to see beyond illusion. Cool, right?

When confronted with a Boggart, what does it look like to you?
That's a tough one. Most of my fears aren't things that can be personified (ie. clowns or spiders), but if I had to chose one I would say snakes since I had a bad run in with one last summer and I've since had nightmares about snakes.

Do you partake in any school sports or magical hobbies?
I'm not the sporty type, so I would on the sidelines cheering on the Quidditch players. If there's a wizard magazine that comes out every month that I can contribute stories to that would be great. Also, the Novel Tea Book Club would totally meet in the Room of Requirement and we'd all talk about the latest book to hit the wizard bookshelves.

If you have free time, where would you be found hanging out?
Either curled up with a book in the Hufflepuff common room, or outside on the grounds with friends.

You are most likely to get detention for what?
Um...I probably wouldn't. I've never gotten detention and I don't plan to start now. But if I did it might be for reading a novel in class. Oops.

What career do you want after leaving Hogwarts?
I would love to be a writer for The Daily Prophet, thought not when Rita Skeeter is around, or maybe even The Quibbler. Or it might be fun to be a librarian at the Hogwarts libary or at a big public wizarding library.

I tag Jackie at Claws Up, Llinos at The Lilac Linnet, and Jessica at Pyreflies and Geeks in Dresses.

What Hogwarts House are you in?

Inspired By: Here, Wildest Dreams & Black Magic

I hate when music videos have nothing to do with the song whatsoever. Don't you? These three music videos are super cool, feature amazing outfits, and the song and the video are in sync with one another.

Here | Alessia Cara
Alessica Cara -- Here
{Click for item info}

This song is an anthem for introverts! Have you ever been to a party and just wished you could go home to be by yourself? That's what "Here" is about. Alessia Cara even wrote the day after being at an uncomfortable party. I love the line about rather being with her friends to discuss "big dreams" and "plans to take over the planet."

I went with basics that have a little oomph, so these outfits can take you from day (reading at home) to night (being at a party you don't want to be at). Wear a white blouse, stud earrings, dark jeans, black rings, and black booties. Or  throw on a black tank top, distressed jeans, purple watch, and burgundy sneakers.

Wildest Dreams | Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift -- Wildest Dreams
The video for "Wildest Dreams" is gorgeous (the scenery, the 1950's film theme, the outfits!) and T-Swift is gorgeous in it! This song is beautiful and it's one of my favorites from her 1989 album. (Also, I wish I could pull off that dark red lipstick like she can.)

That yellow dress is so gorgeous, so wear something similar: embroidered yellow dress, sparkly necklace, red stud earrings, taupe infinity scarf, and black wedges. Or for a casual 1950's look, put on a white collar blouse, scalloped black skirt, heart earrings, and red heels.

Black Magic | Little Mix
Little Mix -- Black Magic
"Black Magic" is like a mini teen movie about four nerdy girls who find a magical purple book. I've liked Little Mix ever since I saw them perform as an opener for Demi Lovato. They're energetic and spunky and tons of fun to listen to.

For the cool outfit, put on a red lace top, windowpane-print skirt, key bracelet, purple druzy necklace, and black wedges. For the nerdy chic outfit, wear an olive cardigan, purple swing dress, light blue stud earrings, and black oxford flats.

What music video do you currently love?

Fall Reading List

I completed my Goodreads reading challenge! *pats self on back* I bumped it up from 32 books to 45, but I'm now currently at 50 books. This is the most I've ever read in one year, so I'm both proud of myself and shocked that I've read so much, and we still have four months left of the year!

I don't know if I'll get to all of the books below by the end of the year (you know how it is, you stumble across a shiny new book and have to read that one immediately), but I absolutely want to get to all of these at some point.
 The Martian by Andy Weir
Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas
The Readers of Broken Wheel Recommend by Katarina Bivald (via NetGalley)
The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater
A Little Something Different by Sandy Hall
Welcome to Night Vale by Joseph Fink & Jeffrey Cranor
Library of Souls by Ransom Riggs
Why Not Me? by Mindy Kaling
Off The Page by Jodi Picoult & Samantha Van Leer
 Uprooted by Naomi Novik
The Rosie Project by Graeme Simsion
 Magonia by Maria Dahvana Headley

What's on your to-read list?
How many books have you read so far?

Outfit: Coffee or Tea?

I put together three outfits inspired by fall (apple-picking, creamy tea, and falling leaves) because I contributed to Her Umbrella Magazine's first issue, which came out on September 1st! I took these pictures back in July, so yes I was sweating a helluva lot. This outfit is my favorite of the bunch because of the soft colors, Peter Pan collar, owl necklace, and owl mug. Can you tell I like owls? #spiritanimal

Since it's too hot for warm drinks, I've been getting into a fall mood by drinking every iced chai tea I can get my hands on. I recently had a frozen vanilla chai and it's as amazing as it sounds.

Grace, the founder of Her Umbrella, only used one picture from each outfit, so if you'd like to see the rest of the other two let me know.

So, are you a coffee or tea gal?

Inspiration: Cool Bookshelves

What is it about beautiful, well-organized, and colorful bookshelves that just makes me swoon? I think I've always been obsessed with bookcases because I haven't had them since I moved into an apartment when I was 9 (that's 17 years of keeping my books hidden in plastic bins underneath by bed). Seeing cool bookshelves on #bookstagram makes me wish I had enough space for a whole wall of bookcases and Funko Pops! So if you have cool bookshelves, I'm officially jealous!

How do you store your books?
