Inspired By: Books Turned Movies

Not a lot of movies based on books are heading to the silver screen in the next two months, but the two that are coming out I'm excited to see. I thought Allegiant was going to be the last movie, but like most popular series, they (the movie executives, I'm guessing) decided to split the book into two. Why? I have no idea. The final movie, Ascendant, is coming out next year. 

Below I decided to create outfits based on Poldark, a new show that takes place in England after the Revolutionary War. I absolutely love it! I got so invested in the characters and their lives and I'm so happy a second season is coming. Watch is ASAP!

I wasn't a fan of the final book, so I'm hoping the movie will be better. Tris is a bad ass, so throw on a leather jacket, orange top, distressed jeans, and orange sneakers. Or a gray sweater, a green cold shoulder top, leggings, and boots. (March 18)

The Jungle Book

Mowgli the Man-cub: The orphan baby raised by the wolves, taught by Baloo, trained by Bagheera and Kaa. The sorcerer who knows the ways of the jungle and speaks the language of the wild.

The wild animals in the trailer for this movie look so real! Can't wait to see it! Mowgli runs around the jungle, so he needs loose and comfortable clothing, so wear a moon phase tee, jean shorts, and leopard print sneakers. Or put on a green dress, zebra-print belt, a leaf bracelet, and nude booties. (April 15)

Poldark

Tired from a grim war in America, Ross Poldark returns to his land and his family. But the joyful homecoming he has looked forward to turns sour, for his father is dead, his estate is derelict, and the girl he loves is engaged to his cousin.

I know it's not a movie, but this TV series is amazing! The second season is coming later this year, so I recommend you watch it online when you get the chance. It's on Amazon Prime. The show starts in 1783, so throw on your best 18th century-inspired clothing, like a white blouse under a floral dress, heart bracelet, and black loafers. Or wear a brown sweater jacket, white top, navy trousers, and oxfords.

Outfit: Stripes On Stripes

I've always been more of a florals and polka dots girl, but lately I seem to be drawn to stripes. Stripes are classic and chic and can be dressed up or down. What's not to love? And they're a big trend for spring! 

So I'm not a runner. I tried running a few years back, but I found it boring and hard on my knees and discovered that the only way I'll be running is if it's for my life. However, my friends and I have joined the Color Vibe 5k in May and I'm really excited because it's more about being covered in every color of the rainbow and having fun than actually running. Sounds great to me! Have you ever participated in a color run? Are you a runner?

Spring Beauty Wishlist

So after two years, I'm thinking of stopping my Ipsy subscription. While I've loved getting cute bags full of make up every month and discovering a lot of great brands and products, I seem to get stuff from the same companies over and over. Obviously you can't beat getting five products for a mere $10, but there's always one or two in each bag that I don't like or don't use or would prefer in a different color. Besides, if there's a product I really, really want then I'll just fork over the money. So it seems my time with Ipsy is coming to an end.

Watch | Read | Listen {March 2016}

There's only one book coming out in March that I desperately want (The Winner's Kiss!), so I'm hoping to use this month to catch up on books I've accumulated recently. My TBR pile has gotten a little a lot out of hand. I'm not joking when I say I have a rolling cart full of unread books. Proof: this picture. So yeah, it's time to get reading. 

MOVIES

Zootopia

In a city of anthropomorphic animals, a fugitive con artist fox (Jason Bateman) and a rookie bunny cop (Ginnifer Goodwin) must work together to uncover a conspiracy. {Watch the trailer} This looks SO freaking cute! I don't care that I'm an adult, I'm going to see it anyway. (March 4)

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot 

While working as a war correspondent in Afganistan and Pakistan during Operation Enduring Freedom, Kim Barker (Tina Fey) develops a crazy relationship with a fellow journalist from Scotland (Martin Freeman). {Watch the trailer} If a movie has Tina Fey in it, there's a good chance I'm going to love it. (March 4)

Hello, My Name is Doris

A self-help seminar inspires a sixty-something woman named Doris (Sally Field) to romantically pursue her younger co-worker named John (Max Greenfield). {Watch the trailer} This film looks so quirky! (March 11)

Allegiant 

After the earth-shattering revelations of Insurgent, Tris (Shailene Woodley) must escape with Four (Theo James) and go beyond the wall enclosing Chicago. For the first time ever, they will leave the only city and family they have ever known in order to find a peaceful solution for their embroiled city. {Watch the trailer} Honestly, the books got worse and worse, but I'm hoping the movie will do a better job. (March 18)

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice

Batman (Ben Affleck) takes on Superman (Henry Cavill) while the world wrestles with what kind of a hero it really needs. With Batman and Superman fighting each other, a new threat, Doomsday, is created by Lex Luthor. It's up to Superman and Batman along with Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) to stop Lex Luthor and Doomsday from destroying Metropolis. {Watch the trailer} I'm still a little iffy on this movie, but it has potential. (March 25)

Get A Job

Life after college graduation is not exactly going as planned for Will (Miles Teller) and Jillian (Anna Kendrick) who find themselves lost in a sea of increasingly strange jobs. But with help from their family, friends and coworkers they soon discover that the most important (and hilarious) adventures are the ones that we don't see coming. {Watch the trailer} This looks really funny!  (March 25)

• Wink Poppy Midnight by April Genevieve Tucholke -- Wink is the odd, mysterious neighbor girl, wild red hair and freckles. Poppy is the blond bully and the beautiful, manipulative high school queen bee. Midnight is the sweet, uncertain boy caught between them. (March 22)
• The Winner's Curse by Marie Rutowski -- War has begun. Arin is in the thick of it with untrustworthy new allies and the empire as his enemy. Arin hasn’t forgotten Kestral despite that she cared more for the empire than she did for the lives of innocent people—and certainly more than she did for him. At least, that’s what he thinks. (March 29)

Outfit: Bookworm Problems

There are a ton of great things about being a bookworm (stacks of books everywhere, knowledgeable about random things, fantastic vocabulary, and can recommend books anytime, anywhere), but there are some downsides to being a bibliophile. Fellow book nerds will understand these dilemmas!

Bookworm problems:

• wanting to buy every new book no matter how big your TBR is
• getting interrupted while reading just as you get to the good part
• forgetting to post a #bookstagram picture for a photo challenge
• feeling bad for starting a new book when you haven't finished the other five you're reading
• living vicariously through a character's sizzling romance
• going to sleep at 2am because you had to finish that chapter
• needing to re-read a favorite book even though you just got 3 new books in the mail
• sneaking into a bookstore to look at the books because you can't afford to buy more
• you think about the books you could be reading while at work or school
