Cute Commuter Essentials

There are two types of commuters: ones who like commuting and ones who wish they could Apparate home and not bother with traveling. I don't mind commuting if the journey is short and I have a good book. Now that I drive to work, I always listen to an audiobook in my car because it's an easy way to knock two books off my TBR list. I use either Overdrive (it's free because it connects to your local library) or Audible (if you have Amazon Prime there are a bunch of free audiobooks). So whether you take public transportation or drive, below are some cute items to help with your commute.

I asked my brother Leo, who takes a bus and subway to school, what his essentials are and, always the jokester, he replied, "A small vodka for when the day is going rough." Maybe some alcohol is the only essential we need, right? 😉

Cozy Essentials Wishlist

I keep hearing the Danish word hygge, which is "a feeling or mood that comes taking genuine pleasure in making ordinary, every day moments more meaningful, beautiful or special," and it's officially the way I want to live my life. I mean, I'm already a lazy bum, who pretty much only lounges on my bed reading or watching Netflix, but hygge takes it to a whole other level of comfort by appreciating the coziness. The Danish clearly know what's important in life.

Hygge gained popularity because of The Little Book of Hygge by Meik Wiking, so if you want to embrace the homebody life then this seems like a great place to start. Below are some cute cozy essentials that everyone clearly needs.

Galentine's Day Wishlist

Who else excited for Galentine's Day?! I love Galentine's Day more than Valentine's Day because it's all about celebrating the awesome ladies in your life -- yourself, your BFF, your friends, your mom -- rather than stupid romantic love (can you tell I'm bitter because I've never had a boyfriend?). But in all seriousness, Galentine's Day is about women celebrating women; something we should all do every day.

2017 Resolutions Wishlist

My word for 2017 is progress. I want to make progress in many aspects of my life, most importantly my writing and my health. My goal is to have the second draft of my fairytale retelling done by March 1st. It's just a deadline I've given myself so I can push it back if I have to since I don't know how long it will take me to go through the first draft and make edits because I've never done it before. Wish me luck!

My other goal is to be healthier. I did really well the first half of last year -- I went to the gym with my friend Avra two or three times a week and I drank at least one bottle of water each day, usually two. But then in July things went downhill. I went gluten-free in September and it's made all the difference. I feel lighter and healthier and I'm more aware of what I eat, but there are still plenty of bad foods out there that are gluten-free (I'm looking at you, french fries!). So I'm going back to the gym and making a conscious effort to eat better.

A few smaller goals I have:

• Take 20 minutes to read before bed
• Make better choices with my money 
• Actually use my planner
• Use the makeup I already own before buying more

Holiday Wishlist

My holiday wishlist is full of random things I've been dying to get all year long! As you can see, my love for Fantastic Beasts is still going strong and I kind of want to BE Newt and immerse myself in the 1926 Wizarding World! I heard The Case of Beasts is really cool, but I literally just got Wizarding World: Movie Magic, which is SO AWESOME! 

I saw the Broadway musical She Loves Me on my birthday in June and I've been obsessed with the music ever since. I want the album so that I can sing along with the songs while driving to and from work. Do I care if people see my singing my lungs out? Nope! #noshame

5 Bookmarks On My Wishlist (AKA I Want Right Now)

Through the joys of Instagram, I've discovered a bunch of fantastic small businesses. One kind of shop in particular that is very popular right now is bookmark shops. I never realized how many kinds of bookmarks there are and how many I need in my life! Two bookmarks shops I bought from and would recommend are MyBookmark and Beedooto. Below are five more shops I've discovered recently that I want to get a bookmark or two from. 

Authored Adornments

Authored Adornments creates mostly jewelry (necklaces, rings, bracelets, keychains) featuring book page quotes. I think this little bookmark sticking out of a book is so cute and I love the fun quote. 

Marked by Mary

Marked by Mary is a shop that makes woodburned, handlettered bookmarks and wood slices. I love the look of the woodburned letters. She creates custom bookmarks, so you can get one that says anything you like. 

Tiny Felt Heart

Looking for cute handmade felt creations (bookmarks, hair pins, phone cases, and more) then Tiny Felt Heart is the place you want to shop. I don't have any felt bookmarks, so clearly I need one stat and these are adorable.

Bookmarky has all the colorful literary and fandom bookmarks you could possibly want. There are bookmarks for all of the most popular books right now and a ton for Harry Potter. I am dying over how wonderful this Platform 9 3/4 ticket bookmark is. 

Read and Wonder

I love magnetic bookmarks and have several character-shaped ones, but I adore Read and Wonder's pretty watercolor quote bookmarks. But not to worry, this shop also has a ton of super cute character magnetic ones as well.

Fall Wishlist

The things on this wishlist are items I've had my eye on for a while now. I'm using Shoptagr, which sends you an email if the items on your list have gone down in price, so I'm really hoping the two pairs of shoes drop down in price a bit. Where's a sale when you need one?

Lusting: Metallic Sandals

Sandals are a must for summer, but why wear boring brown sandals when you can have metallic ones?! I've been seeing metallic sandals everywhere and I'm a huge fan because it catches the bright summer sun and looks great with a tan (whether it's real or self-tanner). Birthday Wishlist

My 27th birthday is on June 22nd! Yep, I have a very young face. (I moisturize...and you know, genetics.) Since I clearly don't have enough Harry Potter merch in my life (bold-faced lie), here are few items I've been dying to get, especially Hermione's wand. Mug Wishlist

I'm a total mug addict! So much so that in my future apartment, I want to hang up a wooden board with cute hooks to show off all of my glorious mugs. Fitness Wishlist

There's something about going to the gym regularly (three times a week!) that makes me feel like an actual adult. It's probably the fact that I'm making my health a priority and taking care of myself. Adulting for the win! But man this exercise thing is hard. Most days, I want to give up after five minutes, but I power through because I want to see results, because I'm always happy I did it afterwards, because I don't want to let myself down, and because my friend Avra is there encouraging me. (Thanks, girl!) 

And because we've become such gym rats, I've gotten a lot more fitness gear. Recently I bought some new sneakers from Payless, got a new sports bra, and a new peacock feather water bottle, but there's so much great fitness stuff out there. I love my water bottle, but the blue one featured below has space for I.D. and a locker key, which is pretty handy. And I LOVE those floral headphones! Do you go to the gym or are you more of a yoga person or a runner?

Spring Beauty Wishlist

So after two years, I'm thinking of stopping my Ipsy subscription. While I've loved getting cute bags full of make up every month and discovering a lot of great brands and products, I seem to get stuff from the same companies over and over.
