There are so many big, early summer blockbuster movies coming out this month that I want to see. You can always count on the summer to bring you comedies and action movies. I say, bring it! Who doesn't love a good bit of mindless fun?
The Avengers
Starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgard, Sameul L. Jackson, and more, this movie looks like it's going to be one hell of a ride. The Avengers come together to save the world. You can guaruntee that there will be humor and tons of fighting (both against the common enemy and against others in the group). (May 4)
Dark Shadows
Johnny Depp plays Barnabus, a vampire who has been confined in a coffin for two hundred. He emerges in the year 1972 to a very strange world. He stays in his estate with his descendants, who are also quite strange and have their own secrets. It also stars Helena Bonham Carter, Michelle Pfeiffer, Jackie Earl Haley, Jonny Lee Miller, and Chloe Moretz. (May 11)
God Bless America
This dark comedy is about a man named Frank (Joel Murray), who might be terminally ill and who has had it up to here with stupid people in society (ie. dumb teenagers, reality tv starts, etc.). So he decides to take his gun and kill them all. His unlikely accomplice is a teenage girl with just as much rage (Tara Lynn Barrr). You can rent it on iTunes now. Check out the red band trailer here. (May 11)
Hysteria
Part romantic comedy, part fun history lesson about how Mortimer Granville (Hugh Dancy) came up with the electromechanical vibrator. This looks absolutely hilarious and I love how Maggie Gyllenhaal plays a tough, outspoken Victorian woman. (May 18)
What To Expect When You're Expecting
About five couples whose lives are turned upside down by the challenges of pregnancy. This comedy looks like a funny and heartwarming way to show people what really happens when you're expecting. Plus, the idea of the "Dudes Group" is the best! Starring Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez, Elizabeth Banks, Chace Crawford, Brooklyn Decker, Anna Kendrick, Mathew Morrison, Dennis Quaid, Chris Rock, Rodrigo Santoro, Ben Falcone, Joe Manganiello. (May 18)
Men in Black III
It's quirky, funny, there's action and adeventure, time travel, one liners, and I'm always curious to see what type of new alien they can come up with. Agent J (Will Smith) travels back in time in order to save the planet and humankind, while discovering that Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones) knows more secrets to the universe than J possibly imagined. John Brolin plays young Agent K. (May 25)
