Last week was my office holiday party, so I wanted to wear something festive (last year, I wore my other red dress), but I also had my last day of class that night and didn't want to feel too out of place, so I wore boots in order to make it more casual.
I've heard that you're not supposed to mix blacks and browns, or golds with silvers, but I actually mixed all four in this outfit. And you know what? Somehow it works. I paired my black sweater with my black leggings, brown belt with my brown boots, and the gold bow bracelet with the bit of gold on my shoulders. I guess I like to break the fashion rules.

I actually think brown and black together looks so sophisticated. I've been trying actively to mix metallics recently and loving the effect. Btw, can't believe that sweater is from AmEagle---I never have any luck finding cute items when I'm in that store.

Hi dear Sara, I love it to pair brown with black, and in the last time I´m even used to wear silver with gold :) You look so lovely in your red dress and the cardigan with the bling bling is the perfect match! Hope you enjoyed the holiday party!

i love this outfit! I thing that idea about not pairing blacks and browns is out dated. I hear now its ok to pair any neutrals together. so you can wear black, brown, grey, white, even navy blue all together and it still works!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great look, Sara! I love it! The red looks amazing on you and I love the embellishments on the sweater.
