A few weeks ago, I wore this teal lace dress to Westchester Home's 10th Anniversary Party! It was a small cocktail party at the Wainwright House, which overlooks part of the Long Island Sound. You can see two pictures I took at the event here and here. I decided to wear this pretty vintage-inspired dress with my more modern booties and mixed metal jewelry.
Anyway, these are the first outfit pictures with my new camera! Last Friday, I went into the city to B&H to get a Canon EOS Rebel T3i! For $600, I got the camera with the kit lens, a zoom lens, a camera bag, and a 16GB SD card. I only ended up paying $125 since I won a $250 giveaway several months ago and had lots of birthday money. Score!
I'm already in love with this camera even though I barely know how to use it. I'm waiting to get a wireless remote in the mail, so that I can take outfit pictures without running back and forth. I've been reading all kinds of blog posts on photography lately, so I can get the cool blurred background and how to take the best pictures I can. All of the fancy terminology is still confusing, but I'm sure I'll get it eventually. If you have any photo tips, I would love to hear them!

Aww what a cute dress! I hear ya about the camera. When my husband finishes school and gets a "grown up" job, he promises to buy me a nice camera and I am kinda scared, haha.

Awww yay we're camera twins now! If you want the super blurry background, you'll have to get the 50mm 1.8 (what I use) or the 50mm 1.4 You can find 50mm 1.8 pretty cheap though. Good luck playing with your new baby!
ReplyDeleteYay for your new camera!!! Loving this dress on you!

I've had my DSLR for over a year and I still don't know how to "use" it... I always tell myself I'm gonna sit and learn but never do. I have a book for it though, so I really have no excuse. Hopefully I'll master it soon! The pics you took are great! Once you get the hang of it I bet you will be a fantastic photographer! :) Love the dress btw, such a pretty color! And woo-hoo, you got a good deal on that if you just paid $125 out of your pocket! :)

ReplyDeleteI was kind of scared at first before I bought it because I knew that there would be so much involved and so much I would have to learn, but once I got my hands all of my excitement has pushed that away! These cameras are amazing and take beautiful pictures whether you know the perfect setting or not, so no need to be scared! :)
