A few weeks back I was invited to a fashion week event called the Burlesque Boudoir and there was no way I was going to say no. Who wouldn't want to see a lingerie runway show and burlesque show? It started with a scandalous and fun burlesque performance. Why is someone taking off their clothes so mesmerizing? Haha! Seriously though, she was amazing at it. She danced and took her clothes off to music while looking confident and was clearly having fun with it. (Pictures below.)
Then there was the runway event with both women and men. These lingerie pieces were really nice and I liked the 40's retro hairstyles on the women. After that there was another quick burlesque show. She was also very good. It was an entertaining and lively event, and I'm so glad I got to experience it. I event got a swag bag to take home!
The Burlesque Boudoir was hosted by Starbaby Enterprises and part of the proceeds from the event when to Walk the Walk America, which raises money and awareness for breast cancer. The designers that night were Louise Ferdinand (lingerie) and Pearl Naidoo (jewelry). There was also amazing cupcakes by Basket Treats.
While waiting for the show, I met Jennifer of Plush Pink Allure and she's so nice. I'm glad I met her at the show.
A few things:
1. I got new glasses from Warby Parker! I picked out the Sims after getting them three times in Home Try-On boxes because I loved them so much. They're a tortoise print, but has hints of purple, which is the best thing ever. Also a new prescription means that I can actually see!
2. I got a new camera lens! I got the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II, or as photographers call it the Nifty Fifty (which I learned after I bought it). I picked this one over the f/1.4 because this one is $125, whereas the other is $400, and I'm not willing to shell out that much for a lens. Also, thanks to my mom for giving me a $100 gift card because it meant I only spent $25 plus tax.
3. There are pictures of two different shoes because I haven't mastered walking the streets of Manhattan while wearing heels yet, so I wore flats to get to and from the event.
Earrings: Arajera | Glasses: Warby Parker
Pictures of the Burlesque Boudoir! Warning: Pictures of hot guys ahead. You're welcome.
Would you got to a burlesque performance?
Have you been to one?
