Inspiration: Springtime

Who else is thrilled that spring has arrived? It's time for flowy tops and dresses, driving with the windows open, basking in the sunshine, having ice cream with friends, easy updos (because you're off to worry about more important things), and just having a grand old time.

This spring I have a lot of fantastic things on the horizon, but the two most exciting are that I'm going to Pittsburgh to see Jess, Kristin, and Marissa and that I'm attending BookCon! May is going to be an awesome month!

What are you excited for this spring?

Inspired By: Spring Activities (with Glamour and Glow) + Giveaway!

Today we're talking about spring activities! I'm so excited that spring has started to grace us with it's presence because there's nothing better than seeing flowers, hearing birds sing, feeling a warm breeze against your skin, and wearing flowy fabrics.

My sponsor, Glamour and Glow, teamed up with me on this post, so below are outfits perfect for classic springtime activities featuring some of Glamour and Glow's clothing.

Before we move onto the fashion, I wanted to tell you a little bit about Glamour and Glow: the woman behind it all Christine Spreng founded her boutique because, as she puts it, "Making people look and feel good is key to brightening their day. It is very satisfying knowing that I have the opportunity to do this each and every day...and I am extremely thankful for that." Glamour and Glow is a complete fashion destination; they have jewelry, clothing accessories, and footwear. Her boutique blends street style and romantic touches. Be sure to check them out!

Picnics
Picnic
Aren't picnics the best? Besides the inevitable ants, it's so lovely eating outside when the temperature is perfect. I definitely want to have one (or five) this spring! You could wear a pretty blush-colored dress, a rhinestone necklace, a polka dot scarf, and floral flats. Or a bright yellow top, jean shorts, a tassel necklace, and brown sandals.

Walking in the Park
Walking in the Park
Nothing is more relaxing than talking a stroll through lush greenery, either by yourself, with your dog, or with a loved one. When the sun is shining through a bunch of leaves, the world seems absolutely perfect. Go comfortable: wear a cute top, leggings, a stack of bracelets, and green sneakers. Or wear a baseball cap, a loose cardigan, a bike tee, distressed jeans, and flats.

Picking Flowers
Picking Flowers
Flowers are, of course, pretty year round, but there's something wonderful about surrounding yourself with flowers in the spring. I want to see real flowers and I want to be wearing them. There's no such thing as too many florals. Wear a white lace top, a black and white folded skirt, a stone necklace, and black wedges. Or wear a lace dress, a purple necklace, a flower crown, and black flats.

City Adventures
City Adventures
Obviously not everyone lives in or close to a city, but it's definitely fun going into a city now and then for some epic adventures -- seeing the old buildings, eating at new places, visiting a museum, or staying up all night dancing. Don a light-colored beanie, a studded dress, a blue druzy necklace, a brown belt, and blue heels. Or wear an olive jacket, a black tank, a tortoiseshell necklace, a distressed jeans, and booties.

One person will win a pretty silver headband
from Glamour and Glow!

Inspired By: Winter Activities

Now that it's freezing cold, your cheeks are red, there's snow in your boots (and probably in your hair), and you're drinking something warm, it's time to enjoy those winter weather activities. It might be difficult to be outside at the moment given that the wind cuts right through to your bones, but there are a bunch of fun things you can do outside that can take your mind off the fact that you can't feel your toes.

I personally like the winter and being outside in the cold (for short periods of time) to enjoy the crisp air. But for those who prefer to stay warm and cozy, you can enjoy the view of snow falling from the comfort of your home while wearing fuzzy socks.

Ice Skating
Inspired By: Ice Skating
Every year it always takes me a little while to get back into the hang of ice skating, but then I'm always happy I did. It's challenging, but fun and graceful and a good laugh when you or someone else falls on their butt.

Keep warm by wearing a faux-fur lined jacket, beige sweater dress, tights, tall boots, and pink winter accessories. Or wear a red cable knit sweater (with a few layers underneath), jeans, fold-over boots, blue hat, and heart gloves.

Holiday Parties
Inspired By: Holiday Parties
Holiday parties are almost upon us! Whether it's a family gather, a bunch of friends, a party for work, a winter wedding, or whatever event is on your calendar, of course you want to look chic and put together.

For a work party, wear a black velvet blazer, a purple peplum top, velvet pants, and black pumps. If you're going to a family gathering, put on a lacey black dress with a pretty green necklace and black booties. Or if you're attending a wedding, don a gray metallic dress, polka dot tights, and nude pumps.

Snowball Fights
Inspired By: Snowball Fights
You never know when one will occur. One minute your walking with friends and/or family down to your car and the next balls of packed snow are flying at your face. You only have one option: throw a snowball back!

Stay bundled up up in the cold by wearing a pom-pom hat, a faux-fur trim green jacket, striped sweater, black jeans, and lace-up boots. Or layer it up in a burgundy sweater, plaid button up, jeans, tall boots, gray embellished hat, and gloves.

Drinking Hot Chocolate by the Fire
Inspired By: Drinking Cocoa
If you're a homebody like me or prefer to stay indoors hibernate while it's winter, there are lots of fun activities you can do: drink cocoa by the fire, play fun games with friends (like Cards Against Humanity), have a movie marathon, indulge in a warm bath, have a video game tournament, or read a good book.

Even indoors you have to stay cozy, so wear a striped sweater, black leggings, warm socks, and slipper boots. Or never get out of your pajamas, or wear a beige sweater, floral sweatpants, and snowflake-print slipper boots.

What's your favorite winter activity?

Inspiration: Chunky Scarves

Although you can wear scarves year round, I never saw the appeal in wearing a scarf in the middle of summer. When it starts to get cold though, I'm all for wearing a chunky scarf. In fact, the chunkier the better! I've already broken out my teal fringed scarf, my burgundy Pashmina scarf, and my black knit infinity scarf.

Are you excited to wear scarves?

Inspiration: Anticipating Autumn + Sponsor: The Biker Store

I'm not usually a fan of the color orange, but to me that lively, warm color just embodies autumn -- pumpkin pie, PSL (pumpkin spice lattes), actual pumpkins, crunchy leaves, apple cider, squash soup, candlelight, roaring fireplaces, and of course it's one of the two Halloween colors. Every year I always look forward to seeing the leaves change colors. I especially love the trees whose leaves turn a bold burgundy before falling away. And you can't go wrong with all the delicious food that fall has to offer.

Today I want to introduce you guys to The Biker Store

My dad has a red motorcycle and in the summer likes to ride around in his padded leather jacket and black helmet. He'll take my siblings and I down the street while we ride on the back (one at a time of course) to feel the wind in our hair. It's simultaneously thrilling and relaxing. Every year, my dad  loves going to Americade in Lake George, NY, where hundreds of motorcycles line the streets. Whenever I see a motorcycle it reminds me of that bald-headed man I call dad, so that's why I'm excited that The Biker Store is a sponsor of mine this month!
The Biker Store has a wide range of ladies motorcycle helmets and motorcycle clothing including, jeans, leather jackets, leather trousers, and motorcycle boots. They take pride in what they do and take time out of the weekends and evenings to visit local biker meet-ups to listen to bikers stories.

Be sure to check out their clothing,
especially if you yourself are a biker chick!

What do you love about fall?
Have you ever ridden on a motorcycle?

Inspired By: Summer Activities

It's the summer! When it's sunny and hot and you're lathering sunscreen all over your face, there's really only one place to be: outside. Although I'm not a huge fan of the summer (my hair is constantly frizzy and my skin is always oily), this season is all about relaxation, being laid back, and having fun.

Beach Bum
Inspired By: Beach Bum

If you can't wait to hit the beach once the temperature rises, then congrats, you're a beach bum. Maybe that means tanning (please wear SPF!), reading a book under a floppy hat, playing volleyball, surfing, swimming, or building sandcastles; whatever beach activity you prefer, do it in style. Wear a colorful bikini (or one-piece) with a fedora, lightweight embroidered top, studded shorts, and coral Keds. Or instead try a flowy tunic, striped floppy hat, printed swimsuit, and studded sandals.

Outdoor Concert
Inspired By: Outdoor Concert
Maybe you prefer the energy and adrenaline of an outdoor concert with its crowds of people and loud music. Then rock a gray polka dot sweater, lime green shorts, triangle necklace, printed bag, and studded sandals. If it's a classical music concert where you're relaxing on the grass, wear a striped purple dress, floral headband, blue necklace, fringe bag, bow earrings, and wedges. Don't forget a candle to set the mood.

A Day at a Theme Park
Inspired By: A Day at a Theme Park
There's always something to do at a theme park, so if that's where you would prefer to spend your day (either with friends or little ones), be sure to wear something comfortable: a belted orange dress, polka dot headband, strappy sandals, and studded cross-body bag. Or instead try a tied front top, lace-embellished jean shorts, lots of bracelets, gray Converse, and a backpack. If it's a water park, don't forget a bathing suit.

Movie Watching
Inspired By: Movie Watching
At the end of the day (or maybe even in the middle of it), it's nice to escape the heat for a little while to enjoy the air conditioning, a good movie, and some popcorn or candy. Relax and put your feet up in a floral peplum top, white shorts, a purple wristlet, and strappy wedges. Or for an evening look, go for a printed maxi dress, silver necklace, a shield ring, a black tote (to sneak in some treats), and teal wedges.

What are your favorite summer activities?

Inspired By: Summer Foods

Once summer arrives unofficially at the end of May, all I want to do is eat light food and ice cold drinks. I'll save the soup, hot chocolate, and heavier foods for colder months thankyouverymuch. To keep cool in these sizzling months stick to fruits of all kinds, cold drinks (hello mango smoothie!), ice cream and fro-yo, and of course water.

Colorful Fruits
Inspired By: Colorful Fruit

Seeing fruit stands all over the place once summer arrives makes me want to switch to a diet consisting entirely of strawberries, blueberries, pineapple, and watermelon. Suffice it to say I'm still eating other foods, but we can definitely dress like our favorite fruits. Wear an strawberry (or watermelon) red dress, watermelon earrings, and colorblock sandals. Or dress like a fruit salad by donning a red cardigan, yellow tank top, blue jeans, and orange sandals.

Lemonade
Inspired By: Lemonade
Lemonade stands are the epitome of summer and childhood. It brings a smile to my face when I see a kid handing out cold cups of freshly made lemonade for 50 cents. Dress like a sophisticated version (lavender lemonade from the picture above) by wearing a yellow sleeveless top, lavender shorts, yellow sunglasses, and brown sandals. Or instead wear a yellow dress with a green blazer, green stud earrings, and cut out heeled sandals.

I Scream for Ice Cream
Inspired By: Ice Cream
I don't know about you, but I love eating ice cream during any season, but there's something amazing about devouring it on a warm day and having it melt over your fingers. Dress like chocolate ice cream, one of my favorite flavors, by wearing a light white sweater, brown high-low hem skirt, brown necklace, and brown bow flats. Or take a cue from Napoleon ice cream: a black and white top, white lace shorts, black sandals, and pink jewelry.

H2-Oh
Inspired By: H2-Oh!
When the temperature rises, it's so much easier (and so much more necessary) to drink lots of water. I find it refreshing to sip on ice cold water, and then take a welcome plunge or canon ball into the deep end of a pool. If you want to be inspired by this thirst-quenching liquid, why not wear a watercolor print dress, silver belt, blue wedges, and lucite cross-body bag. Or look to the delicious cucumber water for inspiration: all-white outfit with a white hat, heeled sandals, mint necklace, and mint watch.

What's your favorite thing to eat during the summer?

Inspired By: The Spring Season

I'm so excited that spring is finally in the air! It's sunny, warm, and breezy, and it makes me want to spend all my time outside basking in the sunshine. Suddenly running errands doesn't seem so terrible if it means I can feel a warm breeze on my skin.

This past Sunday wasn't a great day personally*, but it was still absolutely beautiful outside. Perfect temperature, sunny, a little breezy, so even though I was feeling like crap I laid out on the grass in the sunshine for a while (with my dog Princess to keep me company) in my dad's large backyard and it made everything a little bit better.

*The hearing in my right ear was off and I thought I had an ear infection, so I wasn't feeling good and was anxious about what was wrong. On Monday I went to see a doctor and it turns out my wisdom tooth had hit my Eustachian tube, which connects your mouth to your ear, so the tube was inflamed which did something weird to my hearing. I'm taking Sudafed and things are slowly getting back to normal! The body is a weird thing.

Sunny Days
Inspired By: Sunny Days
Days are so much better if they're sunny, doesn't you agree? There's something magical and happy about a sunny day and feeling the sunshine on your skin, even if you're just walking to the bank to pay your bills. In order to feel that happiness on cloudy or rainy days as well, why not dress in the sunniest color there is -- yellow! Try a striped yellow dress, floppy hat, yellow earrings, tie-dye Keds, and a crochet-covered belt. Or instead put on yellow jeans, a white tee, a sky blue cardigan, blue pointed flats, and a yellow necklace.

Flowers in Bloom
Inspired By: Flowers in Bloom
One of the great joys of spring is seeing flowers popping up everywhere -- on trees, in bushes, on your front lawn, in your windowsill, and even in cracks in the pavement. It's so nice to get a colorful bouquet of your favorite flowers to spring-ify your home. To dress a little bohemian, put on a floral headband, flowy coral top, floral-print jean shorts, floral bracelets, and colorful sandals. Or if you feel like dressing up, try a delicate floral dress, a light blue floral necklace, cute blue wedges, and a floral clutch.

Bicycle Rides
Inspired By: Bicycle Rides
One of my favorite things about spring is being able to break out my bike from the confines of my dad's basement. Nothing makes me happier than dusting off my purple bike and going on my first ride of the season. If you're bike riding on a date, then wear a white pleated shirt, bicycle print skirt, orange flats, and bicycle print scarf. Or if you're riding to do errands, put on a bicycle print shirt, distressed jeans, bicycle necklace, teal sneakers, and cute blue backpack.

Little Flying Friends
Inspired By: Little Flying Friends
Of course spring also means the re-emergence of those tiny little creatures called birds and bugs. Yes most of them are annoying and creepy (Can I get a restraining order for bees and mosquitoes please?), but lots of them are so cute and the perfect spring wardrobe inspiration. If you're happy about hearing the happy chirping of birds in the morning, then wear a nude bird-print top, navy trousers, nude heels, bird-print scarf, and blue backpack. Or if you're fond of insects, try a lady bug-print top, dark jeans, red ankle-strap flats, bee dangle earrings, and insect ring.
