Inspired By: New March Books

Every time I do these bookish posts, I find more novels I want to read and more clothes and accessories I want! I saw on bookstagram that people who got advanced copies of Queens of Geek and Strange The Dreamer really loved both books, in case you were thinking of picking up one or both. Queens of Geek is definitely on my Goodreads TBR.

Strange The Dreamer
Strange The Dreamer
Written by Laini Taylor; The dream chooses the dreamer, not the other way around—and Lazlo Strange, war orphan and junior librarian, has always feared that his dream chose poorly. Since he was five years old he's been obsessed with the mythic lost city of Weep, but it would take someone bolder than he to cross half the world in search of it. Then a stunning opportunity presents itself, in the person of a hero called the Godslayer and a band of legendary warriors, and he has to seize his chance to lose his dream forever.

Get inspired by the dual colors of the cover by wearing a yellow tunic, leggings, "dream" necklace, silver rings, and lace-up brown boots. Or be a warrior in a gray leather jacket, a "rules breed rebels" shirt, ripped jeans, and black booties.

Hellworld
Hellworld
Written by Tom Levin; Five years ago, Abby Booth’s mom, cohost of a ghost hunting reality show, went missing while filming in a ‘haunted’ cave in Arizona. Abby has decided that things will change. She plans to go to the same cave where her mom and the crew went missing and to find out, once and for all, what happened there.

When solving crimes and possibly dealing with ghosts, it's best to wear layers, so throw on a gray jacket, zippered red sweater, gray jeans, a ghost pin, and black boots. Or be tough in an olive jacket, cold-shoulder gray top, burgundy jeans, little ghost earrings, red ring, and taupe booties.

Outfit: Spring Layers

It's not quite spring yet, but the thinner jackets and vests have come out! Last week, it was almost 70 degrees out and I wore a long-sleeved shirt and this olive vest and it was glorious. Soon, I'll put my jackets away into the depths of my closet and not think about them until November.

Who else gets those annoying white dots all over their jackets? It seems these days I mainly use Photoshop to get rid of those little dots. My jacket looks so much better without them, so I'll have to use IRL Photoshop to get rid of them ie. a lint roller. (Sidenote: I originally called it a sticky roller couldn't remember what it was! So now I'm picturing a sticky roll that gets rid of lint lol)

Cute Commuter Essentials

There are two types of commuters: ones who like commuting and ones who wish they could Apparate home and not bother with traveling. I don't mind commuting if the journey is short and I have a good book. Now that I drive to work, I always listen to an audiobook in my car because it's an easy way to knock two books off my TBR list. I use either Overdrive (it's free because it connects to your local library) or Audible (if you have Amazon Prime there are a bunch of free audiobooks). So whether you take public transportation or drive, below are some cute items to help with your commute.

I asked my brother Leo, who takes a bus and subway to school, what his essentials are and, always the jokester, he replied, "A small vodka for when the day is going rough." Maybe some alcohol is the only essential we need, right? 😉
Are you a commuter?
What are your essentials?

Watch | Read | Listen {March 2016}

How is it March already? Not that I'm complaining, because I'm sick of the cold weather. Come on, spring!

While there aren't any books I'm pre-ordering, I do want to live at the movie theater this month. Pretty sure I'm going to be spending all my money on movie tickets! Which of these films do you want to see?

MOVIES

Before I Fall
February 12 is just another day in Sam's charmed life until it turns out to be her last. Stuck reliving her last day over one inexplicable week, Sam untangles the mystery around her death and discovers everything she's in danger of losing.  Starring Zoey Deutch, Halston Sage, Cynthy Wu, Logan Miller, and Liv Hewson. This movie was SO GOOD! (March 3)

Logan
In the near future, a weary Logan (Hugh Jackman) cares for an ailing Professor X (Patrick Stewart) in a hide out on the Mexican border. But Logan's attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant (Dafne Keen) arrives, being pursued by dark forces. This is Jackman's last turn as Wolverine and it looks incredible. (March 3)

Kong: Skull Island
A team of explorers and soldiers travel to an uncharted island in the Pacific, unaware that they are crossing into the domain of monsters, including the mythic Kong. Starring Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, and Brie Larson. This has an awesome cast, so I'm all in! (March 10)

Beauty and the Beast
The timeless Disney fairy tale about a monstrous-looking prince and a young woman who fall in love comes to life once again. Starring Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Luke Evans, Josh Gad, Ian McKellan, Emma Thompson, and more. I'M SO EXCITED I CAN HARDLY WAIT! (March 17)

Power Rangers
A group of high-school kids, who are infused with unique superpowers, harness their abilities in order to save the world. Starring Elizabeth Banks, Bryan Cranston, and Becky G. Don't judge me too hard for being mildly excited about this movie. I used to watch the Power Rangers with my younger brothers all.the.time when I was little. (March 24)

Ghost in the Shell
A cyborg policewoman attempts to bring down a nefarious computer hacker. Starring Scarlett Johansson, Michael Pitt, and Juliette Binoche. Doesn't this movie look really cool? (March 31)

Outfit: Spring Stripes

I mentioned in Monday's post that I saw a screening of Before I Fall and if you're curious the movie is great! I binge-read the book the two days before the movie and the novel is really similar to the movie, so if you like close adaptations then you'll be happy about this one. The four main girls were wonderful, and Zoey Deutch is especially wonderful as Sam. This movie is the perfect balance of funny, romantic, heartbreaking, thought-provoking, and beautiful. It reminds you that you should make the most of your life.

I kid you not, I walked out of the theater and felt so happy I was alive. The world looked better, the sky bluer, the people nicer. I walked to the top of these cool steps that overlook the street near Lincoln Center and people watched for a little while. Since I had extra time before my train I decided to do something I hadn't done before and actually explore Grand Central. And then I went to a Harry Potter art show and got two amazing pieces of artwork. It was a fantastic day all around!
