I'm ready for spring right now. Can we push the Earth further along on it's rotation? I'm tired of wearing all these layers and the cold chilling me to my bones. I want warm breezes, flowers everywhere, the ability to eat fro-yo without looking like a weirdo, and later evenings.
I feel like the trends below signify that this 90s resurgence is still going strong, but with a modern twist, which elevates it. Of the ones below, I'm excited for pastels, wide leg jeans, florals (you know I'm a floral addict), and cropped jackets. But I might branch out into the sporty trend with baseball tees.
ONE | Pastels, Particularly Blush-Colored Clothing
This trend is romantic and flirty, so if you have a feminine style, pastel-colored clothing will be perfect for you. Blush-colored clothing is especially on-trend right now. If you don't have a girly style that doesn't mean you can't wear it. Pair a lavender skirt with a baseball tee and sneakers to add a sporty edge, or a blush-colored top with wide leg jeans for a classic look, or you could wear all-black with a sorbet-colored beanie.
TWO | Wide Leg & Boyfriend Jeans / Pants
Wide leg jeans are back in style. I wore flare jeans a lot in high school, but what I think elevates this look is the dark wash. Pair it with button ups for a sophisticated look or florals for a 70s vibe. Wide leg pants are also big right, so if you have a bohemian flair this is the perfect time to wear them.
Boyfriend jeans are great for the spring and look effortless. Throw on a varsity jacket for a menswear-inspired outfit, or dress it up with a lilac-colored top and heels to add some femininity.
THREE | Sporty
If you've always been a tomboy then you're in luck because wearing varsity jackets, baseball tees, baseball hats, and sneakers is going to be popular for spring and summer. If you have a girly style wear a baseball tee with a floral skirt, or if you want to wear the style to an office pair a shift dress with a varsity cardigan.
FOUR | Fantastic Floral
Whenever spring comes around, I think of this line from The Devil Wears Prada: "Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking." It's always popular, but this year it's huge. I've seen florals everywhere on everything. If wearing flowery clothing isn't your thing, you can wear it on your accessories instead. Or if you're not into floral print, try textured floral, like the white top above.
FIVE | Crop Tops & Cropped Jackets
Crop tops are a hit or miss with people -- either you love them or hate them. When done in a tasteful way, with a little bit of stomach showing, I think it looks great, but not when your whole stomach is bare. Wear these crop tops with high waisted shorts or high waisted skirts and you'll look right on trend.
Cropped jackets are perfect if you have a classic style or need something to wear to a cold office. Go casual with a cropped denim jacket and floral maxi dress or a baseball tee and shorts, or dress up a cropped blazer with a pastel purple dress.
P.S. -- All white is still a popular trend!
Which trend are you most excited to wear?
(It's florals for me.)
I love the two dresses in the first picture, flawless.

I will not judge you for eating froyo during the winter. It is good ALL the time.
ReplyDeleteI'm so in love with your Sporty trend board. Love everything on it. I guess I'm most excited about that one, since I would have always chosen to be Sporty Spice.
I love the reference to the Spice Girls! My favorite was always Baby Spice!
ReplyDeleteI love those too! So pretty!
ReplyDeleteThe pastels and florals just scream Spring to me! I think I'm too old to wear a crop top but last summer when it was ridiculously hot, I really wanted one. Maybe I'll just wear it around the house, hehe.

Sporty and boyfriend jeans make me happy (and my nails have been pastel for weeks already!)! I am not a fan, however, of crop tops, even if one layered them over a button-up shirt. It's just not a style that works for me...
ReplyDeletei am loving the crop top/crop jacket thing lately! i have a few tops that i cant wait to break out (when it gets warmer, i don't want weird looks from wearing a crop top in 30 degrees!)
ReplyDeleteI'm most excited about florals and pastels. I've always been a fan of more saturated hues, so this will be a nice way to incorporate more feminine and dressy elements into my wardrobe. I have never had success with boyfriend jeans and I totally accept it--but it looks great on others! Great list of trends, Sara!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Marissa! I think pastels and saturated colors would look lovely together for spring!
ReplyDeleteI bought a black crop top, but once I put it on I realized it wasn't really a style for me. I might try it on again, but if not I'm going to return it. But I'm glad that you're into it and can pull it off! Yay!
ReplyDeleteI need to paint my nails pastels now! Great idea!
ReplyDeleteI'm the same! One hit of warm weather and I want to wear florals and pastels until I'm sick of it!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Chantilly!
ReplyDeleteMe too!! They're my favorite!
