Without Words

I've always loved music. You would think, as a writer, it would be for the words, but I've always found myself more attracted to the actual music, rather than the lyrics. Although I love slow, somber alternative songs and the upbeat, catchy-lyric type, I also have a soft spot for wordless music.

Movie scores are absolutely fantastic, but I feel like people don't listen to them often enough. The music makes you feel what the character is feeling; it's emotionally-charged. It can be uplifting, thrilling, joyous, heart-breaking, terrifying, and most of the time it does so without you even realizing. And that's why I love it.

I like to call it modern classical. Here are some songs that I like...

A Day in the Life

It's so cold outside in New York (a super-chilly 25 degrees) but for some reason I ventured out anyway with my brother to go to Dunkin Donuts. I'm really not sure why. It felt like the cold was biting at my face and hands, the only parts of me that were exposed to the air. And then when I got to DD, I ordered an iced coffee. Yeah, you heard me correctly. Iced. I think the cold affected my brain.

Fashion Inspiration

I love finding pictures in magazines, online, anywhere that I can use as inspiration. I've kept an inspiration board and  notebook for several years now. I love cutting out pictures or words that inspire my life, my health, my stories, and especially my style.

I joined Pinterest several months ago because it's like having an inspiration board online! I love going back to it, so that I constantly be re-inspired. Here are some pics that will be inspiring my style in 2012.

Movies I Want To See (January 2012)

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful New Year's Eve! This one was a very relaxing one for me, as in no cold weather or huge crowds of people, but for next year I would love to actually see the ball drop. Anyway, this month there are a whole bunch of exciting movies coming out that I can't wait to see!

Beauty and the Beast 3D

Disney is bringing Beauty and the Beast back into theatres for a 3D re-release. Since it's one of my favorite Disney movies, I definitely won't be missing out! (January 13th)

The Divide

A bunch of people hide out underground in the bunker of their apartment building as a nuclear attack rages on outside. It looks psychologically horrifying. After watching the trailer, I wonder if any of them will survive because they all seem to be both losing their hair (radiation poisoning?) and their minds. (January 13th limited)

The Iron Lady

Honestly, I don't know much about the first and only female Prime Minister of the U.K., but Meryl Streep is amazing at everything she does. (January 13th)

Haywire

I love me some action and the fact that this movie has a butt-kicking woman as front-runner makes it all the better. Why do all the men get all the fun? Well, it's not so with this movie! The saying, "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned" is quite fitting for this movie. (January 20th)

Red Tails

Set during WWII, African-American pilots are given a chance to fight for the Allied forces. It looks funny, touching, heart-breaking, and uplifting. Sign me up! (January 20th)

Underworld Awakening

The high-tech vampire and werewolf fued rages on, though this time around humans know that these supernatural species exist and want them gone. (January 20th) 

One for the Money

I would be lying if I said I didn't want to see this movie. Desperate for cash, a Jersey girl becomes a bail bondsman woman. The trailer has humor, action, and lots of sexual tension. (January 27th)

Man On A Ledge

While on a ledge, an escaped convict wants to prove his innocence. He stands in as the decoy as his friends break into a vault, and I'm guessing things don't go exactly as planned. Looks exciting! (January 27th)

This seems to be an action/adventure month, doesn't it?
