Life Lately

Since in the month of March and April, I hadn't been working very often (at Triboro, which is a company I've worked part-time at for six years) I did a lot of relaxing, hanging out with my friends and family, indulging in yummy treats, and looking for a full-time job.

Well, in March I went to the Purchase College job fair and I'm so glad I did because that's where I heard about Westchester Magazine's job opening, and now I have the job! It's a part-time position right now, but it can turn into a full-time one. You have to try all options because you just never know.
At a job fair (best idea ever!) || #selfie || Playing pool
A new little succulent || Reading Bitch magazine || A cute French cafe
Donnolis (donut + cannoli = amazing!) || Interview outfit || Sunlight
Yum! || Crissy recommended a whole bunch of KDramas! || New pjs
A sunny day || My favorite Bite lavender lipstick || Colorful teacups
New make up || Saw this pretty car at an auto show || Got a job at Westchester Magazine

Style Honestly

What's one awesome thing that happened to you this past month?

Outfit: I Got The Job!

Last Thursday I went in for a follow up interview (I took these pictures right after) and was surprised when she offered me the job! Of course I immediately said yes! A little background info: after my first interview I had to do a test and I spent nine hours on it, so I was happy that during my second interview she said she liked what I did and that I wrote well.

So you're now looking at the new social media coordinator at Westchester Magazine! Yay!

If I blog a little sporadically or I'm not commenting on your blogs as frequently it's because I'm getting used to my new job. I'm going to try and continue blogging five times a week, but don't be surprised if I take a day or two off now and then. Thanks for understanding guys!

Inspiration: Brilliant Earth

Brilliant Earth contacted me to create outfits inspired by their latest collection, the Windsor Collection, and I just couldn't say no. Creating style boards inspired by anything and everything is right up my alley, so of course I wanted to put together outfits inspired by this beautiful new jewelry.

What really drew me to these pieces is the fact that they themselves are inspired by Old Hollywood glamour because they're bold, feminine, lavish, and unforgettable. I mean just look at that picture above; aren't these rings stunning?

All of the pieces in this collection are handcrafted to order, and only .01% of the world's diamonds meet Brilliant Earth's standards for pure sourcing and exceptional quality.

Posie & Iris
Brilliant Earth -- Posie & Iris

I went for an Old Hollywood meets the 21st Century look for all the outfits because of the engagement rings in the Windsor Collection. The Posie diamond ring is my favorite because it's classic in shape and just so pretty. Dress like the Posie ring by wearing a classic black dress, a silver rhinstone necklace, a floral box clutch, and pink heels.

The Iris ring is different because it resembles an eye shape; the diamonds that make up the eye on the sides get slightly bigger to make an impact. Dress like it's namesake by wearing a purple-colored dress, a pretty necklace, an Iris brooch, a black clutch, and black pumps.

Jasmine & Orianthe
Brilliant Earth -- Jasmine & Orianthe
The Jasmine ring is perfect for the flower-loving girl since it looks like a flower with two stems. Wear a turquoise-colored dress for a bold statement, a dainty bracelet, a floral clutch, and ankle-strap black heels.

The Orianthe ring is very unique; rather than having a large diamond in the middle, it has three "stripes" of differently-cut diamonds with two circular ones at the end. Inspired by the "stripes" in the ring, I chose a gray dress that drapes, silver and black bangles, a gray floral-embellished clutch, and nude pumps.

Favorite Things

{Mossimo Jacket via Poshmark, Bite lipstick in Lavender, Stila eyeliner in Lionfish,
Sephora eyeliner in Black Lace, Urban Decay eyeliner in Black Velvet,
Pop! Goes the Shadow eye shadow, Michael's trinket box, JewelMint rings

I've been wanting an olive jacket for about two years now, but could never find the right one. Either the sleeves were too long or the length was too long or for whatever reason I didn't like it, but then I was browsing the Poshmark app (get $5 when you sign up using the code BJXOA) and I saw this one being sold and I took a chance, and now I'm obsessed with it.

This Color of the Year lipstick by Bite Beauty is absolute perfection! It's a perfect pinky-lavender color. It's a little sheer, but with a few swipes can be made more opaque.

I also need to talk about this Stila eyeliner in Lionfish. Wow, this color! It's a beautiful bronze-brown liner. I tend to go for black eyeliner, but I saw this one on ThriftThick's Youtube channel and the next day I went to my Sephora store to check it out for myself.

Inspired By: Captain America

I saw Captain America: The Winter Soldier with my dad the weekend it came out because we always see the Marvel movies together, and this one didn't disappoint. I liked the first one, but this one I loved; it was exciting, funny, shocking, and a thrill ride to watch. If you haven't seen it yet, go buy a ticket!

Captain America
Captain America
Captain America AKA Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) is adjusting to life in the 21st Century and assisting S.H.I.E.L.D. and the counter-terrorism team S.T.R.I.K.E. on dangerous missions when Nick Fury is ambushed by a mysterious assassin named the Winter Soldier. After Steve withholds information to a senior S.H.I.E.L.D. official, he's branded a fugitive and teams up with Natasha to stop the Winter Soldier.

For a casual look, wear a blue hoodie, an American flag tee, boyfriend jeans, and off-white Converse. Or if you have a more feminine style, try a denim jacket, a star-print dress, and red sandals.

Black Widow
Black Widow
Black Widow AKA Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) is a highly-trained spy that works for S.H.I.E.L.D. and is under Nick Fury's command, but when S.H.I.E.L.D. is compromised she works with Steve to figure out what's really going on and to stop them.

Go summer casual in a brown leather jacket, a textured black top, jean shorts, and black sneakers. Or instead wear an open sweater, a red blouse, black jeans, and black heeled booties.

Falcon
Falcon
Falcon AKA Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) is a pararescueman trained by the military to use a specially-designed wing pack. He befriends Steve and Natasha, so when they're pushed into a difficult situation Sam helps them fight against the Winter Soldier.

For a cool casual look, go for a olive open cardigan, a bird print dress (he does fly like a bird after all), a bird bracelet, and studded white Converse. Or for a tough look, wear a black leather jacket, an olive t-shirt, jeans, sunglasses, and lace-up boots.

Winter Soldier
Winter Soldier
Winter Soldier AKA Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) is the mysterious metal-armed soldier who has been brain-washed by those who seek to take down Nick Fury and Steve Rogers. He's been following orders for seventy years, but after seeing Steve he starts to remember who he used to be.

Mix black and metallics with a silver top, a black romper underneath, silver bangles, and black and clear flats. Or instead wear all black -- hat, top, jeans -- with fun bronze-colored oxfords.

Did you see Captain America 2?

Ipsy Glam Bag {April 2014}

This month's Ipsy Glam Bag was called Beauty Rocks! These beauty products are meant to be worn for a glam, rock n' roll look. I really like the bag this month because it's dark purple and it's more square than the previous bags.

What I got in this month's bag:
♥ Dr. Brandt's Microdermabrasion Skin Exfoliant (full size $78, sample $18)
♥ Big Sexy Hair's Root Pump Volumizing Spray (full size $18, sample $8ish)

This month's bag was worth $55!
MINI REVIEW

Urban Decay's 24/7 Velvet Glide on Pencil in Black Velvet

I was so excited to receive this eyeliner since I absolutely love all of Urban Decay's products. It was like fate that I got it because I've actually been wanting a black eyeliner from Urban Decay. If you're looking for a super pigmented, super black, matte eyeliner that glides on easily and stays on all day this is the one for you.

Dr. Brandt's Microdermabrasion Skin Exfoliant

I love exfoliating my skin, but when I put a small amount of the white exfoliant with it's super tiny beads of sand onto my hand I was skeptical, but then I started rubbing it into my skin and it works so amazingly well. It smells like a minty lemon, which I like. If you have sensitive skin, I would be wary because it can be a little rough.

Pop! Goes the Shadow x Elizabth Mott's Eye Shadow in Champagne

This eye shadow is so pretty! I love wearing shimmery champagne-colored nudes as a base. What I love about this one is that's subtle but in a way still has an impact, and it also didn't crease on my oily lids. Most shimmery eye shadows crease on me even with an eye primer, but this one didn't.

Mary Kay at Play's Jelly Lip Gloss in Teddy Bare

I've never liked lip gloss, but this jelly one I really didn't like. It immediately felt sticky and remained sticky for the 20 minutes I left it on. I don't think lip glosses are supposed to be this sticky. I also wasn't a fan of the nude color.

Big Sexy Hair's Root Pump Volumizing Spray

Sometimes I feel like my roots can use a bit of help, so I was happy to try this. It's easy to use, it's smells great (like fresh floral scent), it's not sticky or anything, and it didn't weigh my hair down. It wasn't super amazing, but it does help volumize a little.

Outfit: Job Interview

At the beginning of April, I had a job interview for a well-known, local magazine, and this is what I wore. I wanted to look professional (hence the blazer and heels), but fun and memorable, so I wore a navy skirt with giant colorful flowers. I felt comfortable and professional, which is what everyone should aim for when putting together an outfit for an interview.

In order to prepare for the interview, I printed out extra copies of my resume and wrote down questions to ask during the interview. It's always good to have questions to ask because it shows you're interested in the job, so if you have one coming up be sure to write some down ahead of time.

Looks I Love {Spring Season}

Has spring arrived where you are yet? It's been so sunny and warm lately in New York that it makes me happy. I find myself looking for excuses to go run errands just so I can feel the sunshine on my skin. I'm even happy when it rains because I'm glad it's not cold enough to snow (although last week it almost snowed).

Anyway, here's a quick round up of some springtime looks from some of my favorite bloggers!
