2013 Valentine's Day Blogging Party / Gift Exchange!

I'm so excited to be a part of the Valentine's Day Blogging Party / Gift Exchange hosted by Casey, Nicole, Lauren, Alycia, and Ashlee! It was great being partnered with Aline of Tamed Musings! Check out her blog -- she writes about the most delicious-looking recipes, books, crafts, and style.

I was so excited when I received her gift in the mail. I love how it was wrapped and her letter was so nice. Aline gave me a handmade travel jewelry pouch by Arte and Linha, and I love it! She mentioned in the letter that she tried to find a purple one since that's my favorite color, but this pink floral one is so beautiful! The small flowers are so delicate, the plaid is a fun contrast, and the gold string is so soft!

When it opens up, there's more of the floral print and cute little pockets inside. You can bet I'll be using this when I travel as well as every day to store little trinkets!
Thanks so much, Aline!

January Photo A Day Challenge

As you know, last month I participated in Chantelle's Photo A Day Challenge, and I have to say I really like the pictures I took. I'm by no means the best photographer in the world, but I tried to take pictures that captured a moment; a certain action or emotion or part of my day. And I think I accomplished that for the most part. What do you think?

Since I'm back in school now, I won't be continuing the challenge until possibly May or June.

Today // Something new (via giveaway) // Heart

The view from here // Movement (fun installation!) // Mine

Street // Something beginning with "T" // Paper

 One o'clock (staring at a co-worker's pizza) // Rain // Surprise

Circle // Something yellow // An ordinary moment

Two things // Ready (for work) // Shadow

Delicious // Something you saw (The Words is amazing!) // What you do (I write)

Corner // (The opposite of...) Electric // Stripes

Landscape // Together (my little sister and I) // Sun

Through (the stacks at the library) // Grow // Down

Yourself

Did you do the photo a day challenge?

Outfit: Bright Ombre

I saw this cool sweater on Modcloth's Cabin Fever Sale and snatched it up instantly. A brightly-colored ombre cardigan for only $21? Yes, please! Even though it's open weave, it's so warm. And I couldn't resist pairing it with a blush-colored blouse and my new tassled loafers that I also got on sale from Shoedazzle for $14. All this fuschia definitely brightened up a foggy day last week.

By the way, I've been loving Revlon's Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains! They came out last year, but I recently bought two colors. I got Cherish which is a pinky-lavender color and Sweetheart which is a bright hot pink. For every day, I've been wearing Cherish and I seriously love it. When you first put it on it's a lip balm with a great color payoff and then after an hour or so it turns into a stain. Love it!

Are you still loving ombre?

Inspiration: Bold Prints

I've been seeing graphic prints popping everywhere lately and I'm loving it. My clothing choices generally lean towards solid colors or very subtle prints, but bold graphic prints have been catching my eye. I like the contrast of black, bright blue, coral, and neon yellow against white; it's so striking, especially when those fun prints are paired with something simple like jeans, a black blazer, or nude pumps.

By the way, I'm loving Madewell's Spring Lookbook! So many cute prints!

Movies I Want To See (February 2013)

Can I go to the movie theater every weekend this month? Sometimes twice? Well, I guess I could, but then I would have no money since it's so expensive. But I'm definitely seeing Warm Bodies and Beautiful Creatures. No amount of homework will stop me!

Warm Bodies
A romantic comedy based on a book by Isaac Marion, the movie follows R (Nicholas Hoult), a young man who is also a zombie. One day while out searching for food (ie. human brains) with some other zombies, R eats the brains of a young man (Dave Franco) and gets all his memories of Julie (Teresa Palmer). R rescues Julie from getting eaten and keeps her safe, and Julie realizes that he's not like other zombies. As they grow closer, R becomes increasingly more human. I read the book, which was hilarious, so I'm excited to see this! (February 1)

Identity Thief
In this comedy, a regular guy (Jason Bateman) goes in search of the seemingly harmless-looking woman (Melissa McCarthy) who stole his identity. How far will he go to clear his name? Watch the trailer here. This movie looks so funny! Bateman and McCarthy never disappoint! (February 8)

Side Effects
To treat her anxiety over her husband's (Channing Tatum) upcoming release from jail, Emily's (Rooney Mara) psychiatrist (Jude Law) prescribes her a new drug which causes unexpected side effects. Watch the trailer here. This drama looks suspenseful, scary, and mind-blowingly great. I'm so curious to know what the side effects are and what those side effects make her do. (February 8)

Beautiful Creatures
Based on the YA book by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl, this supernatural love story in the Southern town of Gatlin follows Ethan Wate (Alden Ehrenreich), an average teenage boy who meets the new girl, Lena Duchannes (Alice Englert), and instantly feels a connection. Ethan soon discovers that Lena is a Castor, a person who can use magic, and that on her 16th birthday she will be claimed either Light or Dark, which she has no control over. The book was amazing; well-rounded characters,
history, magic, and lots of layers to the story. This is a movie I can't wait to see! (February 14)

Other movies coming out in January:
  • Girls Against Boys (February 1)
  • Sound City (February 1)
  • Finding Joy (February 8)
  • Safe Haven (February 8)
  • The Sorcerer and the White Snake (February 8)
  • A Good Day to Die Hard (February 14)
  • Saving Lincoln (February 15)
  • The Bitter Buddha (February 15)
  • Dark Skies (February 22)
  • Future Weather (February 22)
  • Snitch (February 22)
Which movie do you want to see?
