Whenever I think of velvet, I think of crushed velvet from the 90's and thought it was tacky, but I've recently changed my mind about it. Velvet itself is very luxurious and glamorous, so wearing it it gives off a classic and feminine vibe. I would definitely wear the fabric in small doses: a velvet skirt with a chunky knit sweater, or a casual outfit with velvet flats, or a velvet dress with a blazer.

I LOVE velvet clothes. I feel like a rock star whenever I wear anything made of velvet, even accessories, to be honest!

ReplyDeleteHaha, I associate velvet from the 90s too! I'm still iffy about this coming back into style but I like it in small does, like that cute bag!

I've had a change of heart about velvet too! I especially like seeing it in very clean, unadorned styles such as the blue dress and cranberry skirt you featured.

I was obsessed with crushed velvet in the 90s - it was my favourite. These days I'm a little more hesitant to wear velvet, mainly because I find it's really hard to dress down. But it's great for holiday parties!

ReplyDeleteThanks, Rena!
ReplyDeleteI can't help but think of Cape Girl, who haunted campus in her crushed velvet cape for years. I'll try to shake the fear of velvet, but no promises xD These look classy, though!
ReplyDeleteI'm obsessed with velvet. OBSESSED
ReplyDeleteI love velvet. I'm really pining after a dark blue velvet sofa for my next flat. I see your writing a novel, how's that going? I'll bet NY is an amazing place to write - so much inspiration. I write in my spare time too :)
