Outfit: Blue & Burgundy

Although I don't mind winter (most of the time), there's something about the freezing temperatures that makes me less inclined to be creative with my outfits. Maybe it's because when I'm out no one can see what I wear because it's half-covered by a coat. Or maybe it's the it's-too-cold-to-care mentality. If you look at the last month and a half of blog outfits, you start to see a color pattern: lots of blue and black and some purple.

Granted, those are the colors I reach for most of the time, but I wear them a lot more in the winter because it's easy. New mini resolution? Wear other colors!

Below (second to last picture) is my sad attempt at the cool twist from my winter hair post. I don't think my hair holds a twist well. Next time, I'm going to use dry shampoo as hairspray and attempt to hide the bobby pins.
Blazer: Forever 21 {similar} | Top: Delia's | Scarf: Forever 21
Jeans: Old Navy | Booties: Aeropostale

What colors do you wear more in the winter?

  1. Winter definitely makes me feel less creative when I am packing on 25 shirts just to keep warm. You look darling though Sara!

  2. I do like the color combinations here... I have the same problem though! I don't like to get creative when my bones are cold! I swear the other day I wore bootcut jeans (w/ leggings underneath!) and a Gap men's cozy thermal I picked up at Goodwill with clunky winter boots. Not attractive at all haha. I would say you are doing better than me on this one!

  4. Yup, the freezing temperatures can feel free to leave!! Absolutely love the color combo here though - blue and burgundy are great! And I love that it doesn't come off as a 'red, white, and blue' theme, which I feel can happen sometimes.

  5. Holy snow!! Glad to see you survived the cold storms up North. I totally know what you mean- getting dressed in the morning when it's 20 degrees outside just calls for survival, cute is an afterthought! I usually just layer layer layer and if it turns out well, that's just a bonus. Also- my hair is so heavy that twists and braids rarely stay in either! A for effort, my friend!!

  6. I definitely feel myself getting lazier with my outfit posts when it gets colder outside. I have to give myself a mini pep talk just to go outside! haha! I'm such a sissy! Looks like you got clobbered by snow there. We were supposed to get hit hard but it missed us, I guess.

  7. Even though we don't get snow storms like the ones my boyfriend is currently reporting from the US, I too find it hard to dress for the cold weather. It just doesn't seem worth it when I'm covered up by an extra cardigan and a coat that will make me feel bad about anything I wear anyway. I love summer and in-between season dressing a lot more! xo

  9. Next time I'm out I want to pick something up with a pop of color. Most of my closet is pretty neutral with black and white. You look lovely as always!

  13. Oh I know what you mean, I feel by the time winter is almost over I have worn every outfit combo I have so many times I get in a clothes rut!

  14. great outfit! I also think "well, no one's going to see what's under my jacket!" so I don't really try to come up with anything cute when I go out and it's freezing haha

  15. I never thought of pairing light blue with burgundy but I'm loving the way it's looking on you. And I totally feel you about the winter, although for me it's not so much colors as just not caring as much about what's underneath my coat. It almost makes me care more about my coat and my scarf!

  17. I love the burgundy jeans! And the booties--I'm so awful at buying shoes (and clothes) that I love that you show where all your things come from. Motivates me to go look!

  18. I tend to wear a lot of grey in the winter probably because it's so gloomy out!

  21. Thank you, Jen! The color combo was a total accident and I just went with it because I was going to be late for work haha!

  22. Thank you! Sometimes I don't wear a bra underneath my sweaters because I know I'm not going to take my giant jacket off anyway! lol

  23. I'm starting to think I should just walk around with a giant blanket everywhere I go!

  24. Thanks!! I love a good pop of color! A scarf or a ring is an easy way to do it!

  25. Yep, it's freezing outside and we're supposed to get more snow tomorrow!

  26. I love fall and spring too because I can wear layers but not everything is covered up!

  27. And we're supposed to get more snow tomorrow! Ugh! I'm just going to start wearing my pjs outside! lol

  28. Haha yep it's all about layering! Tank top, tee, sweater, vest if it's really cold, scarf, jacket, tights under jeans, doubled up on socks, boots, gloves, hat! Just thinking about putting it all on makes me want to never leave my house! haha!

  29. Thank you!! I'm looking forward to spring for sure!

  30. Thanks!! As soon as I get home, I throw on my pajamas and never want to leave!
