Happy February, my friends! I'm excited that the second month of the year has finally arrived because it means awesome movies, fantastic books, and of course Valentine's Galentine's Day! I can't wait to eat my weight in conversation hearts while reading Z: A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald, the Novel Tea book club's pick this month.
MOVIES
Jupiter Ascending
Jupiter (Mila Kunis) was born with the signs predicting that she would be destined for great things, but she leads a less than extraordinary life until Caine (Channing Tatum), a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, tracks her down and she realizes that she is royalty. However, she's not the only one fighting for the spot on the throne. (Watch the trailer.) I want to see this! It looks like a fun action-adventure with heart. (February 6)
50 Shades of Grey
Based on the novel, the movie follows innocent Anastasia Steele (Dakota Johnson), who realizes she wants to get close to Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan), an intimidating and brilliant man, but she discovers that Grey has different tastes and a need to control everything. (Watch the trailer.) I have no interest in seeing this, but in case you forgot (how could you though with the tons of commercials?) it's coming out soon. (February 13)
Kingsman: The Secret Service
Based on the comic book series, this action spy film is about a super secret organization that recruits of an unrefined by promising street kid (Taron Egerton) into the agency's competitive program as a global threat emerges from a twisted tech genius. Also starring Colin Firth, Michael Caine, and Samuel L. Jackson. (Watch the trailer.) Yep, I'll definitely be seeing this with my brothers!(February13)
The D.U.F.F.
Based on the book, Bianca (Mae Whitman) is a high school student who realizes that everyone knows her as the D.U.F.F. (Designated Ugly Fat Friend), so she enlists the help of Wesley (Robbie Amell), the slick jock, to reinvent herself and go after her crush, Toby (Nick Eversman). (Watch the trailer.) I read the book, which is pretty different, but the movie still looks funny and charming. (February 20)

What are you looking forward to this month?
I always love this post of yours. Gone Girl is finally out on DVD here in the UK today, yay!
ReplyDeleteI am definitely looking forward to some new tunes from Imagine Dragons! Movie-wise I am not really waiting for a special one either. I didn´t manage to watch Wild yet and might get to it, but I am much more into staying home binge-watching tv shows these days :)
ReplyDeleteThe Miracle at the Higher Grounds Cafe sounds like it would be a great book! I feel like I still have so many movies that I missed the last few months that I need to catch up on!
ReplyDeletedont judge but i am super excited to watch 50 shades of grey

I definitely want to see Kingsman, that one looks really interesting. I will not be seeing the Fifty Shades movie tho...I didn't read the books either. It's not really my thing, but my friend is super excited for it. lol!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for Jupiter Ascending! The Duff also sounds interesting--I adore Mae Whitman! Not at all excited for 50 Shades... ugh. Literary quality aside, some of the quotes I've read are really misogynistic and degrading.
ReplyDeleteAlso... so many more books I need to read!
Although I never read 50 Shades, I'd be lying if I didn't say I was curious. I bet the movie will be cheesy but I might see it when it comes out on DVD. As for books, I've had Gone Girl on my nightstand for a month and still haven't started it. Doh!
ReplyDeleteI never read 50 shades of Grey, but I'm curious about the movie!

How is Red Queen!? I've been so excited to read it :)
ReplyDeleteYa know what I can't comprehend… that no matter how much stuff comes out, there's always more… it just blows my mind thinking how many things are being created… constantly! simply INCREDIBLE!
ReplyDeleteYES! Every single book, Jupiter and DUFF!! So excited!

Not really feeling any movies this month. That's ok, I'll save money for next month!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited because I got invited to an advance screening of the Duff, I hope it's good! I can't WAIT for the new Imagine Dragon CD. I'm with you about 50 shades, you couldn't PAY me to watch that movie!
ReplyDeleteI read 'The Duff' way back as well so I'm interested in checking out the movie. 'Love, Rosie' is another one I can't wait to see, I've replayed the trailer so many times! Also looking forward to reading 'Red Queen.' Thanks for sharing these :)
ReplyDeleteRed Queen looks quite intriguing, and I can't WAIT for Imagine Dragons new music!
ReplyDeleteJupiter Ascending and The DUFF look good! I have no interest in watching 50 shades either... I would feel so awkward being in a theater watching that! maybe maybe maybe I'll rent it when it comes out on DVD... but even then it's just... too... frisky for me haha (I'm sure a lot of moms will be in there though haha!)

ReplyDeleteInsurgent is coming out in March!
ReplyDeleteMe too!! Excitement is pouring out of me!!
ReplyDeleteI know right!! Amazing!! I love it! There's always more to read, to watch, to experience!! <3
ReplyDeleteIt's awesome! Plain and simple! I loved it! Fast-paced, intriguing characters, plot twists you don't see coming!
ReplyDeleteI'll probably watch it when it comes out on Netflix!
ReplyDeleteI'll probably see 50 Shades when it comes out on Netflix out of curiosity! Once you start reading Gone Girl, you won't be able to stop!
ReplyDeleteI'm really excited about Kingsman!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMae Whitman is the best! Exactly, I don't want to waste my time on 50 Shades when I can read better things!
ReplyDeleteNo judgments at all! I'll probably end up seeing it on Netflix later.
ReplyDeleteThat book has me intrigued as well!
ReplyDeleteI love Imagine Dragons too! During the winter, there's nothing better than a tv binge!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I hope you like the movie! It's crazy and crazy good!
