I was never really into lipsticks or lip products at all until a few years ago. It seemed like too much of a hassle; to put it on so carefully, to make sure it doesn't come off, to reapply all the time, etc. But then I started watching a few beauty bloggers on YouTube and saw how nice fashion bloggers looked with lipstick on and wanted to wear something pretty on special occasions.
At first, I wasn't ready to wear it on a regular day, but now I've gotten more used to wearing something on my lips. Plus, it's fun pulling out a pretty little tube from my bag and putting it on. Now I realize that having on lipstick makes everyday feel special.
Over the years I've accumulated quite the collection of lipsticks and lip glosses and colored lip balms. I love searching for the perfect new shade and there are so many new types of lip products out there.
As you can probably tell, I'm definitely a pink lipstick girl. When you know what looks good on you, why not, right? I tend to go for mauve pinks, bright pinks, and light purple-pink lip products.
Maybelline Baby Lips in Pink Punch ($3.99) -- This is the easiest thing to wear when I'm on the go and want a hint of sheer color. The color is bright and really does pack a punch (get it?). Since it's a lip balm, it's very nourishing. It also smells like a tropical fruit.
Almay Gloss Balm in Pink Pout ($5.99) -- I was intrigued by this product because it's called a liquid lip balm and let me tell you that's exactly what it is; it has a glossy finish, but it's very hydrating. It has a sheer color, but can be built up, and smells sweet.
E.L.F. Lipstick in Classy ($1.00) -- This has been one of my favorites for years, even before I was into lipstick. It goes on so smoothly and this color in particular is like my lips but better. It has a very subtle but nice scent, and you can't go wrong when it's a $1.
Maybelline Color Whisper in Pink Possibilities & Strike A Rose ($7.49) -- I can't rave about these lipsticks enough. They glide on, they're super hydrating, and although they're sheer, the color is strong and buildable. Pink Possibilities is the perfect bright pink. Sadly, I think Strike A Rose was limited, but it's a dark mauvy-pink with a hint of sparkle.
Buxom Lip Gloss in Dolly ($19.00) -- I received this in my October Ipsy Bag and have been wearing it ever since. It's a lovely sheer mauve-pink color with a hint of gold sparkle. It doesn't get sticky, it makes your lips tingle, and it smells like candy.
Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Cherish & Sweetheart ($8.99) -- After my E.L.F. lipstick, these balm stains are favorite. They're just so easy to wear and put on because of the lip pencil shape. You wouldn't think they would be nourishing because they're a stain but they really are. They feel like a lipstick at first, but then they soak in and because a beautiful lip stain that stays for hours. Cherish is a pretty pink-lavender color and Sweetheart is a bright pink. I also have Smitten, a berry color, stays put the longest.
My next lipstick splurge will definitely be one of Urban Decay's lipsticks. Mostly likely the color Rush since it's like E.L.F.'s Classy; my lips but better.
