Music Lately

School is winding down. I have my classes for next semester. And all I want to do is read or listen to music. I owe this to the fact that it's been dreary and raining a lot.

Lately I've been listening to either pretty, softly flowing songs or catchy, upbeat songs. But I think that's just the kind of music I always listen to anyway. I guess I like both sides of the spectrum.

What songs are you listening to?

Inspired By: Sherlock

If you watch this show, then you know how amazing it is. If you don't, you need to do so right now. The plots are elaborate but still easy to follow, the acting is spot on, it's highly amusing to watch Sherlock's antics, there's suspense and humor, and the way in which Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch)and Watson (Martin Freeman) were brought into the 21st century is very clever and realistic.

The second season begins on Masterpiece (PBS) on May 6th (this Sunday!)

You can find both Freeman and Cumberbatch next in The Hobbit this December, and then Cumberbatch in the Star Trek sequel next year.

Outfit: Belted Black Dress

I wore this outfit on Thursday to work and school, and loved it so much that I wore it again the next day to see my sister's ice skating show. No judgements! I tend to do that a lot -- wear something I love and then count down the days until I can safely wear it again without looking like it's the only outfit I own. Do you guys do that too? Just me then?

I'm really getting into wearing dresses now! One of my 2012 resolutions for this year was to wear more dresses, and I can't wait to wear them this summer.

How To Move On When Shit Happens

I've always been the type of person to, as I say, forget shit and move on.

When something bad happens, when someone insults me, yes it hurts, but it doesn't have to control my life, my actions, or my mindset. I think latched onto this type of indifferent attitude because, in contrast, my mom focuses almost entirely on what other people say or do when it affects her. That's not to say that how she reacts is bad or worse than how I do it; it's just different. (Love you, Mom!)

If you need a little coaching, then read on...

1. Feel the Hurt
Let yourself be insulted, get angry, get sad, stomp your foot, cry, whatever, but briefly. Give yourself one minute or five or a half-hour to be totally and completely emotional. You're not a robot; you feel emotions, so feel them, but don't get caught up in them.

Movies I Want to See (May 2012)

There are so many big, early summer blockbuster movies coming out this month that I want to see. You can always count on the summer to bring you comedies and action movies. I say, bring it! Who doesn't love a good bit of mindless fun?

The Avengers
Starring Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgard, Sameul L. Jackson, and more, this movie looks like it's going to be one hell of a ride. The Avengers come together to save the world. You can guaruntee that there will be humor and tons of fighting (both against the common enemy and against others in the group). (May 4)

Dark Shadows
Johnny Depp plays Barnabus, a vampire who has been confined in a coffin for two hundred. He emerges in the year 1972 to a very strange world. He stays in his estate with his descendants, who are also quite strange and have their own secrets. It also stars Helena Bonham Carter, Michelle Pfeiffer, Jackie Earl Haley, Jonny Lee Miller, and Chloe Moretz. (May 11)

God Bless America
This dark comedy is about a man named Frank (Joel Murray), who might be terminally ill and who has had it up to here with stupid people in society (ie. dumb teenagers, reality tv starts, etc.). So he decides to take his gun and kill them all. His unlikely accomplice is a teenage girl with just as much rage (Tara Lynn Barrr). You can rent it on iTunes now. Check out the red band trailer here. (May 11)
