Movies I Want To See (July 2012)

Although there are a bunch of movies coming out this month, there are only four movies I really, really want to see. Action movies, as you guys know, are one of my favorite genres and there are two of those knock-your-popcorn-over-in-alarm-because-a-car-exploded movies coming out in the next few weeks. The other two are whimsical and romantic.

The Amazing Spiderman
Starring Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker a.k.a. Spiderman, this new Spiderman movie is about Peter discovering who he is and why his father left him after he discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father. Since Peter is still in high school, he falls for Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone). They changed the background of Spiderman quite a bit for this movie, but it looks like a fun adventure! (July 3)

Starry Starry Night
This Taiwanese film is about a girl, Mei, and a boy, Jei, who venture into the woods to find her grandparents home ( the one she lived in with them before moving to live with her parents) after she finds out that her parents are divorcing. From the trailer {watch it here}, it looks so cute because of their budding romance and the magical elements, but also shows a realistic home life. (Limited July 6)

The Dark Knight Rises
The epic conclusion to Christopher Nolan's trilogy begins with Batman (Christian Bale) on the run. After eight years, he returns to Gotham where he comes into contact with Selina Kyle (Anne Hathaway) and must prevent Bane (Tom Hardy) from destroying the city. The dark, gritty version of Batman is no doubt going to be the movie of the summer. (July 20)

Ruby Sparks

Much like Stranger Than Fiction, this is a film about a struggling novelist named Calvin (Paul Zano), who creates a character named Ruby (Zoe Kazan) only to find that she has actually come to life. It looks crazy funny, and makes you wonder what would you do if someone you wrote was now real? (July 25)

Other films coming out in July:
  • Savages (July 6)
  • Farewell, My Queen (July 13)
  • Ice Age: Continental Drift (July 13)
  • Red Lights (July 13)
  • Klown (July 27)
  • The Watch (July 27)
