Hometown Hidden Gems with RelayRides

RelayRides, a website (and app!) that lets you rent a car anywhere in the country, asked me if I would like to write a post about a local hidden gem. Of course, I said yes! I absolutely love where I live! I live in Westchester County, which is right above New York City. I could've picked a hidden gem in the city, but I wouldn't really call it my hometown, so I picked Untermyer Gardens Conservatory, or as everyone here calls it Untermyer Park.

It's a small but breathtaking garden in Yonkers that has a few different sections: a walled garden that has a fountain, plants and flowers, and it's beauty is in its symmetry; the Temple of Love, which is a temple made of rocks that overlooks the Hudson River (you can see me standing in it above); and an open grassy area.

When I was little, my dad would take me and my brothers to the park and everyone would be sitting on blankets or in foldable chairs on the open lawn listening to classical music. I remember running with my younger brothers to the Temple of Love because we thought it was so cool that there was a structure made of rocks. We always thought that no one else knew about it because we would be the only ones there. Those concerts still go on every summer.

I visited Untermyer Park with my mom and brothers in June because we hadn't been in several years and it was my mom's first time visiting the park. It's safe to say she loves it and thought it was magnificent.
