Fall Wishlist

The things on this wishlist are items I've had my eye on for a while now. I'm using Shoptagr, which sends you an email if the items on your list have gone down in price, so I'm really hoping the two pairs of shoes drop down in price a bit. Where's a sale when you need one?

The Out of Printed scarf is a very new item to my wishlist and it's one I'm dying to get. I have the banned books tote and socks, so I should totally get the scarf, right?

Six Falls Trends {2016}

Get excited because fall fashion is here! Cooler weather is on the way, so it's time to think about scarves, sweaters, and new trends. I can see myself wearing all of these chic and feminine trends and I already want more florals and cardigans (as if I need more).

ONE | DARK FLORALS
Dark Florals

Now this is a trend I can get behind! My love for florals runs deep, so I'm happy to see dark florals is a trend this fall. I wear florals regardless of whether it's "in," but now there are more options in store for me. The perfect trend for ladies with girly or bohemian or classic styles.

TWO | GRAY, PALE PINK & YELLOW
Gray, Pale Pink & Yellow
It seems spring is in this fall because popular colors right now are gray, pale dusty pink, and soft yellow. Mix your classic fall colors, like navy, burgundy, plum, and mustard, with these pretty and bright colors that are usually associated with fall. I'm especially in love with this pretty pale pink!

THREE | LONG CARDIGANS
Long Cardigans
Autumn means snuggly cardigans and I'm all for it. The snugglier the better! Long cardigans are big right now and they'll keep you warm all winter long. There's a long cardigan in every color that's perfect for every style, so you're sure to find one that suits you.

FOUR | BOMBER JACKETS
Bomber Jackets
If cardigans aren't your thing, then check out bomber jackets. Whether you want one that's silky or quilted or patched or floral or looks like a letterman jacket, there's one for you. They'll keep you warm and make you look cool.

FIVE | PLAID
Plaid
Plaid is in style every year, but can you blame it? Plaid is a classic and everyone loves it. It also comes in many different iterations from classic plaid to big plaid to windowpane and even houndstooth. My favorite plaid scarf is just waiting to be worn!

SIX | JUMPSUITS
Jumpsuits
I wasn't in love with this trend at first, but it's definitely grown on me. These ones are super chic, feminine, and a touch professional, and I'm on the hunt for the perfect one that I can wear to work and on the weekends.

Which of these trends do you like?
Which will you pass on?

Recent Clothing & Accessory Purchases I Love

Due to a combination of it being too damn hot to go outside for more than 30 seconds and having a bad sunburn, I didn't get a chance to take outfit pictures this past week. So instead I thought I'd share some recent purchases that I've been loving and that I think you all might like. I don't have a lot to share because I've been really good about not overspending on clothes.

Looking at it all together like this, I'm seeing a bit of a color obsession. My love of burgundy is still going strong!

Lusting: Lace Bralettes

I want one of these cute lacy bralettes so badly! It's summer and it's just too hot to care about your bra showing, but I wouldn't mind showing my bra off to the world if it was one of these pretty lace ones. I especially want the burgundy racerback one because it would look cute with open-back shirts, don't you think?

Hufflepuff Pride & Thoughts On Ilvermorny

I'm a Hufflepuff through and through! When I was younger, I liked to think I was a Gryffindor because Harry, Ron, and Hermione are Gryffindor and who wouldn't want to imagine themselves being their friend and helping them fight for the Wizarding World?! But now I'm proud to say that I'm a Hufflepuff. #HufflepuffForLyfe

Surprisingly, I don't have that much Hufflepuff gear. I do have a cute Hufflepuff pennant art print (thanks, Naomi!) and Hufflepuff socks. So I obviously need more "just and loyal" stuff to show off my Hufflepuff-ness!
Hufflepuff Pride

So has anyone else been sorted into their Ilvermorny House on Pottermore? I didn't know anything about the Houses before taking the test, besides their names. But it seems we don't know much about the Houses anyway. I really took my time with this test because I wanted to consider my answers and make sure I wasn't making any hasty decisions. These questions were tough guys!

In the end, I got Thunderbird, which "represents the soul" and "favors adventurers." Not what I was expecting! Me an adventurer? That's a laugh. I know it's a different school than Hogwarts and therefore has different Houses for different types of people, but I can't help but want to make some sort of connection between my two. To me, Thunderbird doesn't feel like the Hufflepuff equivalent. I think Pukwudgie is, which "represents the heart" and "favors healers."

I guess I could retake the quiz, but I chose my answers thoughtfully and honestly. So maybe I'm just a Thunderbird and have to come to terms with my adventurous side. I'm sure it's in there somewhere.

UPDATE: Just saw someone comment this on a Youtube video about Ilvermorny and thought it was very insightful about the Houses: "The Pukwudgie represents the heart, which means that when you make decisions you rely on your emotions in the moment, and usually very caring. The Horned Serpent represents the mind, which means that you make decisions based on what you think is the most logical answer, which means they're very analytical. The Wampus represents the body, which means that your decisions mainly rely on action and less of thinking, making them pretty straight-forward. Lastly, the Thunderbird represents the soul, which means that you make your decisions based on looking inside yourself, and figuring out which will protect/benefit you, and those you care about."

What Hogwarts and Ilvermory House are you?

Inspiration: Off The Shoulder Clothing

Some trends I have to pass on (like chokers or sliders or cropped wide leg pants), but others I love (like crossbody bags, long cardigans, and off the shoulder tops). If I like a trend enough it stops being a trend and starts being a staple. Apparently, peplum is no longer "in," but I will never stop wearing it because it's so flattering and pretty. Are there are trends that have become staples in your wardrobe?

Off the shoulder clothing feels so summery and shows off those sun-kissed shoulders!

Happy 4th of July, my fellow Americans!

Lusting: Metallic Sandals

Sandals are a must for summer, but why wear boring brown sandals when you can have metallic ones?! I've been seeing metallic sandals everywhere and I'm a huge fan because it catches the bright summer sun and looks great with a tan (whether it's real or self-tanner). The gold ones in the top left corner are calling my name!

Inspiration: Lace-Up Tops

I first saw front lace-up tops and was like whoa, I can't wear this. I don't want to put on a show of one while walking down the street, but there are a few ways to add the lace-up look to your outfits without showing what your momma gave ya. I particularly like when a shirt laces-up the back, but I've also seen it on the side as well. What are your thoughts on these shirts?

If you're thinking about getting a lace-up shirt yourself, here are some great options!

Lusting: Spring Flats

If I could wear one type of shoe for the rest of my life, it would be flats. They're comfy and cute and come in so many colors and most of them have little bows on them. What's not to love? I'm on the hunt for one or two new additions to my shoe collection since spring is on the horizon and a few of my favorites are falling apart.

Five Spring Fashion Trends {2016}

It's hard to look forward to spring when this winter has barely even felt like winter, but of course I'm still looking forward to wearing fewer layers, eating outdoors, and seeing pretty flowers everywhere.

The fashion trends this spring are super feminine and pretty and I want to wear all of them! I've already moved my striped shirts to the top of my blouse drawer and I'm itching to get some cute lace tops and lace-up flats.

ONE | Stripes
Stripes

Every girl should have a striped top or two! I still prefer polka dots and florals, but stripes are a classic that everyone should have because they go with everything. It would be fun to mix a striped top with jeans and bright sneakers for a casual look or a lace top with a striped skirt and heels for a romantic night.

TWO | Lace & Lingerie-Inspired
Lace & Lingerie-Inspired
Warmer weather means you can wear lace without freezing your limbs off, so show off your sexy side with lingerie-inspired clothing. Lace is the perfect mix of old-fashioned and modern. For date night, wear a lace dress with lace-up heels. For the office or the weekend, throw on a lace top, jeans, and flats.

THREE | Off-The-Shoulder Tops
Off The Shoulder
I'm not sure if this style is really for me and my manly shoulders, but I do think the style is really fun and feminine. I love the mint dress! If you have a bohemian style, the white embroidered top with jeans or a flowy skirt and sandals would be cute. Or mix trends by wearing a striped off-the-shoulder top and black pants.

FOUR | Sportswear
Sportswear
Now being a sweaty mess after going to the gym is in style! Or you can pretend that you went to gym without all of that gross sweatiness! Mix a casual striped top with gray joggers and sneakers. Or have fun with it by wearing an off-the-shoulder black top with marble leggings and flats.

FIVE | Lace-Up Shoes
Lace-Up Shoes
How pretty are these shoes?! I'm so in love with those brown lace-up heels, but sadly the heel looks too high for me. These are the kind of shoes that do all of the work for you of making you look like you care when really you just threw on whatever and ran out the door. And there are so many styles out there, so win-win!

P.S. -- Mix these trends with the cute fall trends!

Lusting: Strappy Flats

Despite the unseasonable warmth, it's definitely not the season for wanting flats. I know that soon the cold and the snow will sweep in and I'll only be able to wear boots until April. But a girl can dream about wearing cute flats! The other day, I literally dreamed about getting a pair of strappy flats. Do you guys ever dream about buying shoes or clothes?

Inspiration: Holiday Glam

My company holiday party is this Friday, so it's the perfect occasion to go a little overboard with the glam. I'm still deciding what to wear, but there's obviously going to be something sparkly or lacey involved. And I'll probably break out the red lipstick (or lip stain, so I can actually eat without getting it all over my face).

Hopefully this unseasonably warm weather will continue so I don't have to wear tights to the party. #fingerscrossed

Inspiration: All Black

At some point in the fall and winter months, I get bored of color and start reaching for all-black or almost all black outfits. I guess that moment came early this year (unlike last year) because lately I've been wearing more black and gray than my usual purple and blue. Don't these ladies look so chic?

Do you wear more black in the winter?

Lusting: Fall Scarves

Not that I need any more scarves, but it's getting chillier and chillier and a cozy scarf is always in fashion. I haven't taken out my plaid blanket scarf out yet, but my black infinity scarf has already come in handy on those cool autumn mornings. How cute are the dog print and bat print ones below?

Lusting: Trapeze Dresses

My go-to dress style is the fit and flare (gives me an hourglass shape and covers problem areas, so what's not to love?), but now and then it's fun trying new trends and I think trapeze dressses are really cute (I wore one here). They're effortlessly cool and can be worn loose or belted and are also perfect for fall because you can eat as much pumpkin spice as you like and that food baby won't show! #winning

Inspiration: Kimonos

I'm sure you've noticed that kimonos are having a bit of a moment. Every type imaginable exists--floral, fringe, graphic prints, butterfly prints, Aztec prints, sheer, solid, and no doubt much more. I was thinking of getting one for when it's too cold in my office (which is always) and for cool summer nights. Of course, I really want a floral one because well you know me and florals.

Do you have a kimono?
Would you wear one?

Inspiration: Pointed Toe Flats

I absolutely love flats and have been wearing them for years. I always get excited when spring rolls around because it means I can break out my many pairs of flats. However, when I first saw pointed toe flats and D'Orsay flats (the ones where the front and back don't touch, like the red and black pair below), I didn't love them. But slowly I've come around and I just ordered a pair of floral D'Orsay flats.

P.S. -- They're a top spring trend!

Five Spring Fashion Trends {2015}

Who's ready for spring? I am, I am! This seems to be the winter that never ends. I've lost count of how many times it's snowed and I can't remember the last time I saw the sun (kidding). But seriously, I just want to go outside without a jacket, hat, scarf, gloves, and boots. Come on, spring!

ONE | UNIQUE PRINTS
Unique Prints

Unique prints have been popular for a while now, but with warmer weather coming you can make it the focus of your outfit. Go crazy and have fun by wearing heart prints, dramatic florals, animal prints (both leopard and actual animals on your clothing), and more. Mix two prints together, like a keys print shirt with gingham pants, or wear a feminine outfit of a heart print skirt with a sheer blouse.

TWO | GINGHAM
Gingham
Gingham is like plaid's friendlier, girlier cousin and it's perfect for spring and summer. It's eye-catching and works for a lot of styles; it's not just for preppy girls anymore. Try pairing it with florals for a feminine look, or wear a gingham top with wide leg jeans and nude pointed toe flats for a casual look, or a sheer black blouse tucked into gingham pants for a cool outfit.

THREE | BACK TO THE 70s
Back to the 70s
While 60s-inspired styles are still popular, the 70s now seem to be trumping it. Think fringe, suede, wide leg jeans, wedges, and dramatic sunglasses. While this 70s trend seems to be tailored to those with a bohemian flair, don't be afraid to try it out: wide leg jeans works with every style, a brightly-colored suede skirt pairs nicely with a printed top or a sheer blouse, or throw on a floral kimono with a white tee, skinny jeans, and red pointed toe flats.

FOUR | SHEER
Sheer
Sheer clothing is perfect for those who work in an office (if you don't go overboard with it). For the office, try a solid or printed sheer blouse with tailored pants and pointed toe flats, or a skirt with some extra sheer lace at the bottom with a floral print top. Or if you want to dip into the style you could try a transparent scarf in a bright color or see-through flats.

FIVE | POINTED TOE FLATS
Flats Toe Flats
Pointed toe flats are everywhere right now and there are so many different styles that you're sure to find one or five that you love. Want something understated? Try a nude or black one. Want something fun? Wear a bright color or or studs. How about something feminine? Get flats with a bow or florals.

P.S. -- All of last year's spring trends still popular!

Which trends will you be incorporating into your style?
