Movies I Want to See (February 2012)

Looks like February has some enticing films coming out in an array of genres, so there is a movie for everyone this month.

Chronicle
I desperately want to see this! It reminds me of the British show Misfits but in America. Three high school boys discover a mysterious crater and then gain telekinesis, involunerability, and the ability to fly. However, when one of them begins to use his powers with darker motives in mind, lives are lost and friendships are tested. (February 3rd)

The Woman in Black
I don't usually like horror movies because I get too scared, so I probably won't end up seeing this (hey, it's called movies I want to see, not will see).  However, this one looks pretty creepy if you want a good scare. It seems like a good combination of pop-out-when-you-least-expect-it horror and old-fashioned psychological-thriller. And, of course, there's Daniel Radcliffe in 19th century garb! (February 3rd)

Perfect Sense
This seems even more terrifying than The Woman in Black even though it's actually  romance and sci-fi. A man (Ewan McGregor) and a woman (Eva Green) fall in love as people start losing their senses one by one. The trailor makes the film seems simultaneously hopeful and frightening. Can you imagine losing all of your senses to an unknown disease? How would the world continue? How would humans interact if they can't see, speak, or feel one another? (February 10th limited)

This Means War
Chris Pine and Thomas Hardy play CIA operatives who used to be best friends, but now try to one up each other after discovering that they are both in love with the same woman (Reese Witherspoon). I love all these actors as well as the mix of action, comedy, and romance, so I'm in! (February 14th)

Act of Valor
A film about a covert operation to retrieve a kidnapped CIA agent that stars both actors and actual active duty U.S. Navy Seals. It started as a recruitment video, but turned into a war movie. I'm definitely seeing this one with my dad. (February 24th)

What movies did you see in January? Which movies do you want to see this month?

  2. I can't do scary movies either. Even the preview for The Woman in Black gives me the creeps. I'm such a lightweight. :) But, I'd love to see The Means War. I'm all about romantic comedies.
